In Depth[]

Etymology[]

·         Everlina/Everly: An English name, meaning “Boar in the Field.”

·         Rosemary: A flower name, Rosemary is also meant to mean “Dew of the Sea” and “Bitter Rose.”

·         Kindred: An English surname meaning “Similar in Kind.”

Seer[]

·         Everly received the gift to see from her Grandfather, a man who instilled a love for divinations in both his daughter and granddaughter. He recognized the “symptoms” as they were, when Eve was staying at his cottage in Bath, as a child. On top of being able to guess names, dates, and numbers before they were said, and songs before they came on the radio, Eve was stirring in her sleep. Her vivid dreams woke both herself and her grandfather up. It was then that he suspected his ability to see had been passed on. These thoughts were later confirmed when Everly had a vision. She froze, and her eyes went a milky white, while she wore an expression of anguish on her features. When she returned from her daze, she described a sight of crushing, twisting metal, deep waters, and bright lights. It was with unease that her grandfather put this information to the side, and in a week’s time, everyone had moved past her episode. That was, until they visited a beach in North Somerset, and their day of summertime merriment was disrupted. A car, mangled from a recent crash, controlled by an inebriated driver, tore through the beach and into the water. On its tail were several police cars. Thankfully, the car did not get far into the water and had managed to steer clear of the beachgoers. Eve and her family watched as the driver was pulled out of the water by the policemen, and the car was later drug away with a tow-truck.

·         It was then that Eve’s grandfather sat her down, to speak to her about her visions and dreams. He described the gift of seeing to her, and she knew immediately that that must have been the explanation. She was forewarned that seers are often met with similar fates such as the great Cassandra. Eve was to anticipate being accused of attention-seeking or flat out lying, should she try to speak on her visions. So she decided from then on, that should she learn of important information, she would not confess it. Rather, she’d nudge those she knew to be involved, in the right direction, especially if she was forewarned of danger. She would not allow fear to hinder her mindset or her ability to help others.

·         One noteworthy vision Eve had when she had just turned ten, was that which hinted at the werewolf attacks on Hogsmeade, almost two years before she’d be going to school. Eve, with her mother’s side of the family, had been staying at an inn near Hogsmeade, while on holiday in Scotland. She had a vision of clawed doors, terrified faces, and adults, on their knees and weeping over their children. Even more specifically, she saw a muscular girl with pale blonde hair and honey brown eyes, falling on one knee. The vision came to her while she was asleep, and most of her family members passed it off as a bad dream. Her mother, however, knew better. Sure enough, months later, reports of werewolf attacks in Hogsmeade began appearing in the daily prophet. When Eve finally arrived to Hogwarts, she also eventually met Persephone Vitrac - a blonde Slytherin with honey brown eyes, a love of playing quidditch, and a missing leg.

·        Eve also predicted, through dreaming, the unhappy relationship her mother fell into with a selfish man, before Anne met her husband and Eve's stepfather. Eve dreampt of a muggle man filled with contempt and secrets, who took his insecurities out on her mother. When the child woke, she found she was sat bolt upright in her bed, torn from her sleep by her own yelling. Her mother and grandfather stood over her, confused, and dismissed the dream as a nightmare.

The Sorting Hat[]

·         "Upon being placed, the hat seemed quiet. However, it was whispering to the girl whose head it sat atop. "Hmm... interesting." It muttered to Everlina, "Perhaps Ravenclaw, like your mother and father, for your creativity... But no, you could also be a Gryffindor. I sense a keeness for adventure and a wandering spirit. Hmm..." A moment of thought went by, "Oh, no, it is clear to me now, where you will find your true self." It paused, as though in suspense, "With a heart like that, you better be HUFFLEPUFF!" Boomed the hat, thus sending the girl off to the home of the fair folk. " - Sorting Ceremony of 2026

Wand[]

·         Vine: "The druids considered anything with a woody stem as a tree, and vine makes wands of such a special nature that I have been happy to continue their ancient tradition. Vine wands are among the less common types, and I have been intrigued to notice that their owners are nearly always those witches or wizards who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best. Vine wands seem strongly attracted by personalities with hidden depths, and I have found them more sensitive than any other when it comes to instantly detecting a prospective match. Reliable sources claim that these wands can emit magical effects upon the mere entrance into their room of a suitable owner, and I have twice observed the phenomenon in my own shop." - Garrick Ollivander

·         Unicorn Hair: "Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard. Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing." - Garrick Ollivander

Familiar(s)[]

·         Black Cat (Puck): Eve was gifted a rescue kitten on her eleventh birthday, and she named him Puck, with inspiration from Shakespeare's a Midsummer Night’s Dream. She had always had a fondness for faeries, and felt that Puck’s playful personality was befitting to the name. Puck is a black shorthair cat, with pale golden eyes. He’s incredibly loyal to his human, but is also friendly around most people, and is a very independent explorer. He tends to come and go as he pleases, but usually curls up with his human at the end of the day. Puck is also very apt at calming Eve when she's upset or has bad dreams.

·         Green Pygmy Puff (Cornelius): While in Diagon Alley, as Eve was shopping for school supplies before her first year at Hogwarts, Eve found a green, very moss like pygmy puff whom she bought and named Cornelius. Cornelius typically likes eating leaves, peas, spiders, and sugar sprinkles, and smells very earthy, much like the moss he looks like. The puff has a tendency to roll around in the soot and ash of fireplaces, making his fluff look more black than green. Eve frequently changes the colour of his fur with magic, as well.

- Other Pets -

·         White Rat (Venus): In the dungeons, while exploring after a harrowing nightmare, Eve stumbled upon a young, lost baby rat. Fear filled her shiny, black eyes. Everly named her Venus, and discovered she was a very codependent and clingy pet. It was often that the girl carried Venus in her sweater pockets, sometimes feeding her peas, cheese, or berries. Upon returning home for the winter holiday of her first year, Venus was given to Eve's father's girlfriend, Genevieve. It was then that they discovered that Venus was actually a male rat, and they bought three more rats to accompany him, by the names of Pumpkin, Gus, and Acorn.

·         Barn Owls (Fable & Wander): Eve's family barn owls, mostly belonging to her dad, stay home, and are the ones who usually deliver mail to Eve from family. At school, Eve uses her favourite school owls, Pippin, a tiny burrowing owl, and Merry, a large, fluffy snowy owl.

·         Blue Beta Fish (Mathias): Won at Brighton Bay as a prize for a game during the summer before Eve's first year at Hogwarts, Eve's father takes care of her fish while she's away at school. With a little bit of magic, the fish was given a perfect, plant-filled, large environment to roam.

Boggart[]

·         Skeletons (First Year): As a small child, her father had a Halloween decoration he was particularly fond of - a plastic, life-size skeleton he had bought from a muggle store. He tended to torment her with this object. It was often he charmed it to chase her around the house, or would sit it somewhere in her room while it wore one of her dresses. He found it quite funny, but it would be a few years into her tweens before Eve felt the same. In her first year, Eve faced and defeated this boggart, and later discovered in the summer when she encountered the skeletal wizarding band, The Marrows, that she no longer feared them.

·         Rubicon Mordushku (Second Year - Current): Despite the fact that Ruby was once Eve's best friend of childhood, their friendship became tumultuous following a violent and disturbing fight when Ruby found out that Eve was not a pureblood. This fight shattered Eve's heart and haunted her from then on.

Mirror of Erised[]

·         When Everly had good dreams (her dreams were always incredibly vivid - either amazing adventures or terrifying nightmares) they usually involved the freedom of flying. She would dream of many things - Such as reaching out to touch the night sky which had become impossibly close, as though her eyes had become telescopes. She would dream of exploring dungeons that hid glittering gems and potion bottles, or most frequently, she would dream of fairies. The girl knew of pixies and gnomes, but they were not nearly as lovely in the wizarding world, as they were the way muggles wrote them. She longed for the picturesque, Victorian kind to exist. The kind Cicely Mary Barker wrote about, and drew. So they often appeared in her mind, whether she was dreaming about them in sleep or skylarking during the day. She would imagine them hiding inside tree stumps or between the petals of flowers. To her, they were the tinkling of bells and a trail of light that lead deep into the forest, to lure her in, out of mischievousness instead of malice. So it’s no surprise that were she look into the Mirror of Erised, she would see her deepest wish - because above all, Eve wishes to simply be a fairy, so she could live amongst them. A bizarre thing to daydream, perhaps, but Everly’s highest ideal of earthly bliss is to be six inches tall, donned in the silken petals, with her own pair of opalescent butterfly-wings. Even more so, in her tiny form, she’d dream of her own fairy house inside of a tree stump, though occasionally, she might take holiday in an unused muggle dollhouse, while the children are away.

Amortentia[]

·         Honeysuckle: The strong smell of honeysuckle on the breeze is one Eve is all too familiar with; it would flood the garden and crawl over the house, announcing the midpoint between a blooming spring and a warm summer.

·         Firewood: Whether it be a Midsummer bonfire or a Yule log, her mother instilled in her an adoration for fire and the smoking scent of burning wood. It was always a comforting thing to fall asleep in bed, with her hair still smelling of pyromantic activities.

·         Chocolate Chip Cookies & Cinnamon Rolls: Eve always did have a very strong sweet tooth, but her absolute favorite sweet is chocolate chip cookies or cinnamon rolls. She would often bake them with her mother and father, filling the house with the warm smell.

Appearance[]

·         Appearance: Everly has milky white skin that burns easily in the sun - exposure to such leaves freckles and moles across her shoulders and nose. Her eyes are a pale grey, though depending on lighting (and sometimes, what she's wearing), they can also look blue or green. Her hair is naturally a very dark brunette, bordering on black, though she will frequently have her hair magically changed to be various shades of red during school. Whenever she can get away with it, she will often wear her hair in unnatural colours - blues, greens, and purples being her favourites - usually during the winter and summer holidays. Her most distinctive feature is her dimpled chin, which other children had often mocked her over, by saying she had a "bum chin." If she smiles a certain way, she will also reveal a dimple in her right cheek. Overall, she's the spitting image of her father, especially in her expressions, however, she also shares many facial similarities with her mother. It is often that when her mother and she are out in public, people will mistake them to be sisters.

Scent[]

·         Lavender: Eve had gotten horribly sick when she was nine, and she found she felt better after bathing with lavender soap and oils. Ever since then, it has been her favorite thing to use, especially when she is sad or ill. She also carries a small pouch of dried lavender on her person, and sleeps with it under her pillow to influence good dreams.

·         Vanilla: Eve has a tendency to rub vanilla extract behind her ears as if it were perfume. Her mother sends her a bottle of it every few months, though sometimes if she forgets, Eve will resort to asking the house elves for some.

·         Firewood: As Eve spends most of her time around the fireplaces in the castle, as well as happily participating in things like bonfires and campfires, her hair and clothing usually smells very strongly of burning wood and smoke!

Possessions[]

·         Toy Box: Eve has many toys which are near and dear to her heart. Amongst them, there is an enchanted poreclain doll made to look like a fairy, several seasonal plushies enchanted to move, talk, follow or float which are frequently sent to her by relatives whenever a holiday approaches, and a wooden nutcracker soldier. Eve also has a wooden sword and a bow with a set of arrows.

·         Gold Ring: A battered looking gold ring with a pale blue topaz used to be found on her hand at all times. This was her mother's old engagement ring which her father had given Anne when they first married. Despite the divorce, Anne and Edward are on good terms for the sake of their child, and Anne eventually gifted the ring to her daughter. Amidst one of the rows between Anne and Edward, the ring was thrown, causing the original diamond to become lost, so Anne had the gemstone replaced with Eve’s birthstone instead. Eve wore it as she found it romantic to wear an old engagement ring of her mother's, like an heirloom, but also liked holding onto this memento of her parents as she’s incredibly sentimental.

·         Lock Ring: Large and shaped like a heart, Eve wears a lock ring on her hand. Aures Truegarden can be seen wearing the key.

·         Bottle of Liquid Luck: Around her neck, Eve will occasionally wear a vial of liquid luck. It, and its chain, have been charmed to be unbreakable, and the glass of the bottle has been transfigured to obscure its contents. From simply looking at it, one would not be able to identify it as a bottle of Felix Felicis. This was a gift from her Grandfather, which she received on New Years following the receipt of her Hogwarts Acceptance Letter.

·         Divination Tools: As Divinations is a topic that Eve finds rather important thanks to her grandfather's influence and the fact she's a seer, she has many tools and finds joy in collecting them. Most of these things stay at home, though there are a few which she keeps with her and brings to school, which is a citrine pendulum, her first set of tarot cards which were given to her by her grandfather on her 11th birthday, and a velvet bag of tumbled crystals. She keeps her tarot cards in a special bag, embroidered with a rabbit on the front.

·         Diary: Tucked between her mattress and her bed frame, Eve keeps a leatherbound book which she uses as her dream journal, divinations journal, and her diary. Every morning she records her dreams and every night she records the days' events, as well as any practice with divinations that she might've done that day. This book also contains the poems she’ll randomly think up, as well as flowers which she picks and presses. In an attempt to be clever, she decorated the cover to look like a book on herbology. The pages mostly appear to have been taken from a typewriter, with photos and flowers taped on with spell-o-tape.

·         Clockworks: In Eve's first year, she frequented Artificer Club, and under Bonnie Nishi's guidance, made several clockworks. Amongst these, she made a Personal Music and Recording Assistant or PMRA, a Punkeen (a doll-like creature with a barrel for a body, besoms for limbs, and a pumpkin for a head) and a rabbit.

·         D&D Supplies: Handed down to her by her father in her first year, Eve was given the rulebooks and dice he had used to play when he was her age. Eve has since made her own miniatures using the supplies and tools in the Artificer room, and occasionally plays games with her friends.

·         Fountain Pen: Eve uses a special fountain pen that was given to her by her father, rather than a quill. There are several glass charms attached to the end, shaped like hearts, stars, and four-leaf clovers.

·         Musical Instruments: For Music Theory in her first year, Eve asked for a small instrument to play, so her mother sent her a wooden hand piano. Later on, in a music shop in Hogsmeade, Eve bought herself a blue ukulele.

·         Art Supplies: Mostly just a sketchbook and pencils, both coloured and not, Eve brings her art supplies with her so she can draw between (and sometimes during... Okay, mostly during) classes. She also has watercolours and gouache paint, but she's not as good with paint as she is pencil.

Childhood[]

Everlina, otherwise known as Eve, was born to Anne Downing and Edward Kindred. The two were both Hogwarts students and Ravenclaws of the same year. They officially 'met' and began speaking after a quidditch incident where Edward accidentally hit Anne in the back of the head with a quaffle in their seventh year, during Ravenclaw's quidditch tryouts. Edward would go on to be one of the team's beaters, while Anne was a reserve seeker who later dropped from the team to focus on her studies. They began dating, their relationship surviving mostly on love letters passed in class and in the common rooms amidst their constant need to study. The pair got pregnant with Eve a year after graduation and had her when they were both twenty. Edward was an English muggle-born with Germanic heritage. His parents were two very religious and disapproving people who he was eager to be independent of, when he was of age. Anne was an English half-blood with Polish heritage, having a similar situation as Edward on her mother’s side, but magic on her father’s side (one of the reasons Anne’s mother and father split up.)

Anne’s father, Jack, was a wizard, and Gryffindor alumni. He was also one of Eve’s favorite people. Her grandfather had a beautiful little cottage in Bath, with a colorful flower garden in the front of his house, and a vivacious vegetable garden in the back. Angel statues and tinkling wind chimes were everywhere, and made his home utterly serene. Eve thought of it as the most pleasant place on earth.

Jack had a tendency to get Eve very excited for magic. So much so, that her first showings of magic were at his house. Eve’s happiness would make flowers bloom when they were wilting in the autumn months, and windchimes dance excitedly when there was no breeze. These sort of things began to happen when she was around the age of six. It was also at this time in which Eve’s parents would divorce.

Her parents had an unhappy relationship, many fights taking place in a cramped flat in Brighton. When her mother and father finally parted ways, her mother moved to Surrey, and her father bought a big, old house in Ottery St. Catchpole. Her father’s home was the one for which Eve spent the majority of her childhood, (one which she so lovingly named ‘Lancelot Lane’ when they first moved there) though of course she’d spent every weekend at her mother’s so as to spend time with both of her parents. Floo and side-along apparition certainly helped with the distance.

Most of her days were spent in daydreams, as she had a very vivid imagination and very few friends. The former was especially lucky for her, as due to the latter, a lot of her time was spent playing alone. She was always exploring outside, singing, looking for fairies, building fairy houses, and pretending to be a heroine like the ones in the stories she read. When she was in her room, she was imagining conversations between wooden fairy dolls, for hours.

Life at her fathers was simple and happy. He would oftentimes task her with things such as de-gnoming the garden, and would have her collect peas, honey from the beehives, and wild dirigible plums, as chores. As for her schooling, he made sure that she was properly educated, as he bought her books and made sure she completed her lessons. This wasn’t an easy task. It was common to find her having fallen asleep in whatever book she was doing her lesson from - be it math, science, or English, at their kitchen table. Despite her tendency towards procrastination, however, she was able to grasp the basics of education for a child of her age. When she genuinely put forth an effort, her work was exceptional.

It was fairly obvious that Eve was a magical child. When she was anxious or upset, the door to whatever room she would be in would lock by itself without her having touched it. Blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals would tend to find their ways towards her, as well, without her having retrieved them. It always seemed to her like a comfort object would simply appear when she needed it. As well as this, her parents would oftentimes see her turning pages to books without touching them, or shattering untouched teacups during one of her rare tantrums. Thus, it was no surprise that she received her Hogwarts letter at the start of the new year, following her eleventh birthday.

About five years since the divorce, just before Eve was off to Hogwarts, her mother remarried. Prior to this, Anne had worked at a rent-a-broom, helping to saddle up family-sized brooms with luggage, where she met her husband and Eve's stepdad. After that, Anne was working as a clerk at St. Mungo's, handling patient information. In her free time, she made enchanted portraits, usually creating beautiful scenes of gardens, flowers, and Victorian women. Eve’s mother was also proficient at the piano. These things were part of what instilled in Eve a love for romanticism and art. Her spirit became one which appreciated beauty in all forms.

Anne had married a muggle-born wizard named John Bennett, who had a daughter of his own named Amberly. Anne moved her’s and Eve’s things into John’s home in Essex, and it was here that Eve found herself a new sister. Amberly was older and had graduated from Hogwarts as a Gryffindor. She excelled in her studies for the caring of magical creatures, and by the time Eve was going into her first year, Amberly had begun taking care of unicorns on her very own unicorn farm, with her other stepsister (on her mother’s side), Melody - a Hufflepuff alumni.

This was not the only sibling Eve had. She also had a half-brother, with whom she was not very familiar, because he lived in the United States. Eve’s father had visited the States by himself a few years before Eve was born, and conceived a son with a muggle woman. This was one of the many things Edward and Anne would have a row about, before their eventual separation. The son’s name was Carver Wilder, a half-blood wizard who attended Ilvermorny as a Wampus. Despite Edward’s offering to move Carver to Europe so he could be with his son, Carver declined. He chose, instead, to stay with his American family in the states.

Edward inspired a mind for the fantastical in Eve. He introduced her to a world of fantasy, in both muggle and magic literature, art, and games. She grew a healthy collection of books that told tales of magic and adventure, and was introduced to tabletop roleplaying games and Wizard’s Chess, for which Edward would have gatherings once or twice a week. With his encouragement, Eve would also pick up swordplay and archery. This heavily enabled her gravitation towards stories which were centric around heroes - people whom, with her avid imagination, she would imitate.

When he wasn’t spending time with his daughter or engaging in games with his friends, Edward worked as a crafter of Wizard’s Chess boards. He perfected the practice of carving the pieces and painting them as well as the boards with masterful detail. These pieces of violent and strategic art sold for quite the pretty penny with each commission. On the side, he would also write his own fantasy books, many of which were about fictional wizard warfare.

Eve had an attraction for all things beautiful, magical, and romantic. She adored art and poetry, and was especially fond of fairies. Often times she would bake pastries specifically to tantalize such creatures, and would pretend that she was sharing sweets with them. It was always a thrilling thought to her that not only did she live in a world where magic existed, but she was magic, even if she didn’t know how to control it, yet. She was eager to learn, however.

The thought of leaving Lancelot Lane and her family to go to school, however exhilarating it was that she would be learning magic, still saddened her greatly. Eve was a bit dependent on her parents and was easily made lonely and especially socially anxious, due to her lack of friendships thus far, and her home was a safe haven for her. It pained her to think of those long months of being away from home and her family, but she would always remind herself that it was for something wonderful, and it was not forever. Still, she easily (and often) cried, as she wore her heart on her sleeve and had a hard time containing her emotions.

As she boarded the Hogwarts Express and waved goodbye to her parents from the compartment window, Eve was a bundle of extreme emotions wrapped in a thick, colorful sweater. The farewell hugs she got from them simply were not enough. Her eyes were swollen with tears, and her heart was racing. It hurt to leave them behind, but at the same time, she was completely over the moon. Even as she sat in her compartment and watched her parents disappear behind a cloud of train steam, she was a jittery, anxious mess (which bothered her cat, Puck, greatly.) Her heart ached and yet it was fit to burst with the love from which it was filled. Hogwarts awaited her, and she was eager to see what was in store.

At Hogwarts[]

Before the First Year: 11th Birthday, Acceptance Letter, and the Summer[]

Eve turned 11 in December of 2025, and received her acceptance letter on New Years Eve just before the clock struck twelve. During spring, she nurtured the beginnings of a friendship with a boy who lived somewhat nearby, Rubicon Mordusku, and reconnected with a long time family friend and (at the time) current student of Hogwarts, Bonnie Nishi. Following this, Eve continued to push through her muggle studies per her mother and father's wishes, as she learned the basics of math and science, and polished her already proficient English skills. She did this until the Hogwarts school year ended, and summer commenced. All the while, she filled her spare time with preparation for the things she would learn first hand at her new school.

Once summer had officially begun, Eve and her family took holiday in Brighton Bay, where Eve met many of her future classmates and a few alumni of Hogwarts. She learned stories of dragons attacking the bay several years ago, about the former Headmaster giving his life at the end of the semester prior to the summer, and of some sort of secret cult that older witches and wizards would whisper about. She played many games, visited Cirque de Sorceries, and even adopted a pet fish! But it couldn't all be fun and games, as, towards the end of August, she had to go home and prepare for school - which meant shopping for supplies.

With a lot of hope and memories under her belt, Eve said goodbye to the summer and entered September as a newly minted student of Hogwarts.

Year 1 (2026-27)[]

·         Autumn
Eve was sorted into Hufflepuff, and started the year off with a bit of a fright! The night of the feast, she encountered a boggart, who transformed into a skeleton. This caused her to have nightmares and anxieties about being at the school and worsened her homesickness. Attending Headmaster Fox's memorial did nothing to aid this lonely feeling. The first day of classes did help to pick up her spirits, however, especially when Eve went to flying class and discovered a new passion. Her love for flying was almost instantaneous, once she had recovered from colliding with the flying professor by accident.

A few weeks into the school year, Eve had found her footing, made some friends, and learned what classes she most looked forward to. On September 23rd, she cast her first spell - Wingardium Leviosa - in the middle of a Defense Against the Dark Arts class with Professor Vikander.

It wasn't long until Autumn came in full swing and the spooky festivities began! Pumpkins were carved, trick-or-treating ensued, the Halloween Bash was a blast, and Eve even hosted a Death Day party for the ghosts of Hogwarts! During this time, however, a strange and evil organ had taken root into the heart of the castle - the clocktower, and began to steal the voices of any who came too close. Eve experienced a vision about Vikander and falling statues and warned her friends, which gained the attention of both Blighlty and O'Keeffe. The organ then attempted to lure Eve by using her mother's voice, and calling the child by the beloved nickname 'Bumblebee,' and if the Deputy Headmistress had not been there with her at the time, Eve would have followed.

However, that night, as Eve slept, the protective earmuffs she wore (the kind the students wear when handling mandrakes) slipped off of her head. In the dead of night, she heard her mother calling to her - singing. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are grey..." As the castle slept, Eve abandoned her wand, her familiars, and her friends to slink into the shadows. The organ used her homesickness against her and lulled her into its grip. Helplessly, Eve slinked into the cage. The next day, hearing her voice, Aures Truegarden went in after her - in a fury.

It wasn't until Hallowe'en night when the school banded together to rescue those that the organ had trapped. While Eve dreamed of being chased through a terrifying maze, grabbed by hands made of vines and branches, others saw her sitting in a cage at the top of a tree which glittered with crystal apples - apples which held the stolen voices of the students and faculty. The entirety of Hogwarts worked together to banish the organ and free everyone, including Eve, who woke up in the hospital wing at the hands of several Ravenclaws. She and Aures slept alongside each other in their hospital beds. When they awoke, the nightmare was truly over.
·         Winter at Hogwarts
Winter came in a gelid rush once November had arrived, causing Eve to have a renewed affection for thick jumpers, soft blankets and the fireplaces found around the castle. It became even more difficult for her to leave her warm bed in the morning, and she found her toes were often chilly inside her boots and the tips of her fingers were usually numb. Jumpers with pockets and extra-long sleeves, along with fuzzy socks, became an absolute must. The girl was rarely seen without a hot cup of tea in her hands between classes.

With the help of her friends, Eve battled her homesickness and the residual nightmares that came with the events of Hallowe'en. She became more cheerful, present, and excited in classes. She even took her love of flying to another level and began practicing catching the snitch, so that she could try out for the seeker position for the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team. After some practice, Eve was welcomed into the folds of the team.

Bonfire night came and went, and the girl found herself naturally drawn to flames of all kinds - candles, fireplaces, and even the little campfire down by Dumbledore's grave. It was during this time, when she was surrounding herself with fire and light, that Eve created a character and began writing of the adventures of Maxine, the human incarnation of a phoenix.

Amidst the talk of the upcoming Yule Ball, and the first return home for the winter holiday, Eve asked Rubicon to go to the dance with her, and if he wanted to spend the holiday at her house since his had recently burned down while he was away at school. Ruby said yes to both of these questions, which made the girl ecstatic. For the occasion, her mother sent her a dress from a charity shop that her gran had tailored to fit her - long and cream satin, with long sleeves and a massive green bow in the back. Eve felt as though she belonged in the wintry world of the Nutcracker, and grew even more excited for the dance.

The girl continued to work hard in school, even getting O's on her homework - especially for Herbology - and practiced consistently for quidditch. Soon came the very first game of the season, Hufflepuff versus Ravenclaw, and Eve was so anxious that should could hardly eat or sleep! It is perhaps this lack of nourishment and rest that could be credited to Hufflepuff's eventual loss. After an hour and a half of chasing the snitch in an impossibly close game, Ravenclaw's seeker was able to swipe the snitch from above Eve's head, while she watched it happen. Ravenclaw won 290-270, and Eve's confidence was wounded. Despite how close the scores were, she couldn't help but feel as though she'd let her team down.

Holiday cheer came to lift her spirits. On the last day of November, the Christmas Trees in the Great Hall were lit and the Winter Fete was thrown. The festivities brightened Eve's heart and made her feel like herself again. She rode on a sleigh that took her into the air to see the castle from an amazing view, wished for gifts from Santa ( who was actually Vikander), and even had her first 'kiss' under the mistletoe! (On the cheek, and from the known werewolf - Persephone Vitrac.)

Her birthday came. It was a quiet celebration with some cake, letters, and presents sent to her by her family via owl. Eve spent the day relaxing in the common room, to allow herself some rest amidst quidditch practice and end-of-term exams. Her real birthday celebration would not start until she was reunited with her family in a week's time.

Then, the Yule Ball arrived. It was a glittering, frosty affair, filled with penguins and sweets. The girl was overwhelmed by how wonderful the great hall - and everyone in it - looked. Eve and Ruby spent the evening dancing, and talking of their plans for the holiday break. Pride filled the girl's heart when awards were given out at the start of the evening, for she had voted Bonnie into four different awards and was elated to see the Ravenclaw Headgirl win two of them - The Patronus award for Most Savy Spellcaster, and the Hannah Fischer Award for Most Likely to Become Minister For Magic. She also got to see her favourite professor, Professor Gallo, win the Oreyn Fox Award for Most Inspiring Professor. Eve found this very fitting.

The evening was a blur of snow, sweets, and cheek-aching smiles. Before she knew it, the night ended and the morning came, and she and Ruby were back on the Hogwarts Express - on their way home.
·         Winter Holiday
The winter holiday was full of many parties for young Eve to attend to, now that she had friends outside of her parent's social circle. She found her schedule quite busy and actually lamented the lack of time she had to simply do nothing! Once she found a quiet moment, however, she rested and dreamed about having her own broom, perhaps to chase after the northern lights with. This was a theme that appeared regularly in her sleep - the idea of stretching her hand forward and catching those blue and green ribbons in the sky.

One of the many parties she attended was the Ashworth Gala, where a loud attack was held. With such a strong ministry presence, the scene was quickly dealt with. Eve's thoughts were captured by something other than rouge witches and wizards, however, when she spotted a blonde Mordushku but the name of Godfrey at the gala. Her gaping stirred up a strong reaction of jealousy from Rubicon, who had attended the gala with her. Thankfully, that jealousy faded as the pair shared a bonding moment over promises of home and a kiss on the cheek.

Home, as it was, which was soon to change from an odd house in Ottery St. Catchpole to a smaller cottage in Cottingley, which Eve named the 'Dreamer's Hollow.' It was here that her and Ruby celebrated the beginning of 2027 with hot chocolate, fireworks, and promises of helping each other be more strong and brave to face the return to school.
·         Winter & The Return to Hogwarts

Aboard the Hogwarts Express, Eve chatted with her friends, collected and traded chocolate frog cards, and played drawing games with Ruby. They arrived at school and fell full swing into their classes, giving Eve a routine to look forward to. The changes, however, caused Eve to begin neglecting her health as she skipped meals, slept too little (or too much, when she was able), and restricted her ability to read, write and make art recreationally. This worsened her seeking which she practiced as often as she could, determined not to let her team down again.

She continued to read and practice her spellwork, but most of the time, she could not succeed on any spells. Her focus began to wander and she found herself thinking about plants and magical creatures more than charms or transfigurations.

In an odd fit of procrastination, Eve fell down a rabbit hole of reading old Owl Post articles, and realised she did not understand werewolves as well as she would have liked. Following the Wolf Moon of January, she sought out Persephone Vitrac, to inquire about what life was really like for one such as herself.

Eve gained a new perspective on the jaded and bloody history of werewolves and began to contemplate empathy and lack thereof in human and magic history. She realised that, with the atrocities committed against the planet and all those living on it, humans both muggle and magical alike were truly the most deadly creatures to exist on earth. Or at the very least, the most powerful, as she had to remind herself that they also had the capacity for great kindness and love. Eve coped with this knowledge, vowing to be a light in the dark, and did not let the heartache of history further hinder her studies.

The month of January was full of these thoughts, as well as various classes and projects. Particularly, the practice of carving wands in Artificer Club, and the idea of transforming oneself into a faerie using various charms and transfigurations. Snow pounded against the castle, practically encasing the students in their own little snowglobe, which made the child feel an odd mixture of cosy, and stir crazy. It was nearly impossible to practice seeking in these conditions.

One snowy morning, Eve stumbled upon the Headmistress, who had requested to speak with her. Headmistress O'Keeffe informed her of a tutoring group she hosted in which Eve would be encouraged and supported in exploring her abilities and ideas outside of the regular teachings of the school. Eve, her head now full of ideas such as using magic to become a faerie, making wands out of crystal instead of wood, and writing new fairytales for witches and wizards to tell their children, readily agreed. Suddenly, the world seemed as though it were full of endless possibilities.

January slowly passed, but then, in the blink of an eye, Valentines quickly approached! Eve fell headfirst into the romantic mood, springing into the Owl Post to pass out rose grams and even sending some of her own. The Hearty Party was an exciting prospect, as was the Cirque that would be arriving in Hogsmeade. A breath of spring was barely given before the girl was day-dreaming about faraway flowers and singing birds, just awoken. Of muddy ponds and babbling brooks, and frogs - oh so many frogs, that kept appearing in her dreams, even! Of course, she knew it would be months yet before the snow and ice that encased the castle would finally melt.

With February, the love in the air only thickened, and the week proceeding Valentine's Day was full of frivolity and romance. Amongst this, Eve was surprised to see she had received not one but two beautiful poems in Cupid's Corner. She brought four portraits together in love, and she attended the Hearty Party with Aures. She fell down the rabbit hole into the Cirque de Sorcieres, which was, to her sheer delight, Alice in Wonderland themed. All of this made Eve long for spring even more than she already had before.

The cheery mood only lasted that brief week, however. Following a class with Vikander that ended in a battle between two Acromantulas, Eve learned from Professor Dracheblume that trouble had been brewing in the Forbidden Forest for a few months now. Whispers of an Acromantula impersonator and a 'gift giver' of sorts stirred, and a sense of uneasiness settled in Eve's stomach. However, she was determined to focus on her classes and try to trust the professors when they said they would protect the students should anything arise of these mysteries and suspicions.

More weeks passed, and Eve had a vision of something that seemed to come from a time before she was born, about Lord Voldemort. Unsure of what to do with this information, she reached out to the Headmistresses, keen on giving them the memory of the vision to be watched in a pensieve. What she had seen only added to her anxiety, along with an upcoming quidditch game - Slytherin versus Hufflepuff. The week leading up to the game was eventful, and, despite Eve's best efforts, stressful. She began to have odd dreams about all manner of things, experienced some mischief in classes, and witnessed Bonnie and Persephone fighting. It felt as though things were going topsy-turvy. And then... when the game came...

Eve couldn't catch the snitch. She'd not even seen it. Against Slytherin's seeker, she was simply too slow. Costing another game for her house, Everly deeply contemplated hanging up her goggles and passing the broom to someone else. She loved flying and seeking, but did not feel as though she were made for the competition. She took this loss particularly heavily and was even harder on herself than she had been the first time.

After some adjustments and a few pep-talks from Nate and Talula, Eve lifted her chin and decided she would simply try harder. She passed her vision onto the Deputy Headmistress Blightly, and to Professor Vikander as well, and set her sights on bettering her body and her mind. So she began to exercise more regularly, and study more, too. It seemed the study and the practice may have paid off, as she tucked a few more spellcasting successes under her belt.

While she hadn't won either of the two duels she'd participated in, she was able to successfully cast the levitation charm in what might have been considered an actual life-or-death situation. While she was running routes on the moving staircases, she accidentally bumped into Abigail Bluetooth, sending her falling off of the stairs. If Aloy Osiris hadn't caught her, she would've fallen at least three stories downward, onto hard stone. While Aloy struggled to pull Abigail from the ledge, Eve successfully cast the levitation charm to lift the girl by the neck of her shirt, aiding the older students in pulling her up.

The entire situation left Eve with a horrible sense of guilt and panic over what could have transpired, and she decided that using the staircases to exercise was less than ideal. So she braved the ice rain and continued her practices in the bitter cold. All the while, she spent time contemplating how to make up for the scare she had given the Slytherin girl, and reached out to Talula about this, as she knew the girls were close. Tal expressed that Eve should not do anything as she had been there to help the Slytherin back onto the landing, but this still did not satisfy the young badger, and so she approached her other housemate, Marigold, about making pastries for the lot of them!
·         Spring at Hogwarts
Of course, the cold would not last forever, as a muddy, rainy spring was rapidly approaching. With the first breath of spring, came a wave of inspiration for the young Hufflepuff. Her father sent her his old Dungeons & Dragons books and some hand-me-down dice, and after creating a map and some miniatures in the Artifice room, Eve and Aures had their first game. Eve wrote to her father about it, who expressed they could have a regular group over the summer with him and his friends. The prospect excited her greatly.

Additionally, she began pondering other career paths. Perhaps she could be an adventurous witch, with little more than a bag (extended on the inside, of course!) and a broom. Or she could make enchanted toys, like the ones she received so frequently in the post from her family. This, with her dreams of wand-making and storytelling, and of being the first witch to figure out how to safely shrink oneself and give oneself wings, filled her head with all manner of daydreams. What creative opportunities awaited her!

She continued to progress in artificer club, making different clockwork friends with the help of Bonnie Nishi, and also continued to attend the dueling club. Her spellcasting very gradually improved, though by the end of March she was terrified she would not be ready for the end of year exams, thanks to her frequent failures. However, a week or two of more practice proved that she was tucking more successes under her belt, and she even won a second duel in dueling club.

It was at the beginning of April when the second traumatising event of the year happened. That very first Saturday, the professors gathered all the students in the long gallery and kept them there. They explained that it was for their safety, as the Ministry of Magic was in the woods, hunting the dark wizard who had lured students, filled the forest with webs, and killed various magical creatures, among other crimes. Eve's mind was flooded with visions of the forest, acromantulas, a dying unicorn, fire, death, and screaming, leaving her exhausted and shaken by the end of it.

The dark wizard was killed, and life at Hogwarts seemed to resume as normal. Despite this, Eve felt different. She had seen a shard of the real dangers of the wizarding world, and felt numb and disconnected as a result. This feeling lasted for about a week before she threw herself back into her studies and her quidditch practice. The girl, after spending almost the whole school year practicing, finally began to get a more stable hand on spells, and even found a favourite spell to cast - Orchideous. The idea of being able to conjure any flower she could think of on a whim was truly thrilling for her.

Eve also won another duel in dueling club, against a second-year Slytherin named Octavia Dechants. Eve won with the first spell, paralyzing the second year before catching her by her clothing with Wingardium Leviosa so she wouldn't go down on the stage like a sack of bricks. At the time, Octavia simply left the room, and Eve thought that that was the end of it. A friendly duel, nothing more, nothing less. But then, the Slytherin sought her out and attempted to slap her. Eve was able to stop her, but her first-ever fight left her anxious and uneasy to walk about the castle alone. Especially given that Octavia was close with one of Eve's best friends - Rubicon Mordushku.

The Hufflepuff resolved that, unless push came to shove, she would not tell anyone about the fight. Despite her worries that the Slytherin might somehow turn Ruby against her, she didn't want to take away the girl's chance to be the better person. But the idea of someone not liking her, for reasons she didn't really understand other than damaged pride, bothered her deeply. And so she decided to seek advice from the older students she called her friends.

All was well - Eve was a little jumpy, and didn't walk around the castle alone anymore, but she didn't have any more run-ins with Octavia. That was, until the following dueling club session, in which Octavia 'won' by striking Eve with Everte Statum three times. However, as Eve is a first-year and that spell was considered a second-year spell, Octavia was disqualified and the win was given to Eve. After this dangerous escalation, Eve sought out the Slytherin Head of House, Professor Rask, who told her that Octavia would no longer be a problem for her.

Fearing that she would drive a wedge between Ruby and Octavia, or that Ruby would resent her for not getting along with the Slytherin, Eve still declined to tell him about their transgressions. He, however, found out on his own accord and acted as a supportive, comforting friend.

Boggart classes came, taught by Vikander, and Eve tackled the evolved version of the skeleton boggart she had seen at the sorting - a larger, glowy-eyed version which Eve knocked back with Flippendo. This brought her a great sense of pride, one which she had hoped would encourage her classmates in tackling their fears. However, it went quickly downhill, as she found that the majority of her classmates had more... obscure, abstract, and flat out darker boggarts that stemmed mostly from past traumas rather than petty phobias. This drained any ounce of fun she found in the class, and her victory was quickly forgotten.

The second Boggart session ended with Eve chasing after Ruby after they witnessed his dead form in Nicole Phoenix's boggart, and the two shared a bonding moment at the boathouse in which Eve comforted him and told him fairy-tale stories. However, the weight of this moment and of witnessing her classmate's traumas weighed heavily on the empathetic Hufflepuff, and dragged her down for the weeks to come.
·         Summer at Hogwarts
While frogs had come with the spring, including one the size of a car that was reportedly a badly transfigured wizard named Buford Ratunte, the rise in temperature sent them back to the comforts of the lake and the forest. Thunderstorms rolled in, and Eve was happy to sleep alongside one of her favourite sounds. It was good timing, as she, like many others, had begun to experience troubles with sleeping, and she'd always found the sound of rain and thunder particularly soothing. Robes were worn only to keep out the rain, with jumpers frequently forgotten due to the warmth.

Eve visited Hogsmeade with the rest of her classmates and aided in its rebuild as best she could. After the raid, it had been burnt to the ground, leaving it in smoldering ruins. She donated all of her allowance and as much spell power as she could offer, though the most she could do was move things around. It was very disheartening to see the village in such a state, but it was at the same time inspiring to see the bulk of the local wizarding community come together to bring it back to life.

Hufflepuff had their final quidditch game of the year, against Gryffindor. Despite the encouragement from her housemates and friends (Ressy even betraying her own house to don Hufflepuff prided gear the day of the game) Eve was still a nervous wreck as she had been in the previous games, and eventually lost the snitch. Despite her own team racking up points from scores, it wasn't enough - she was too slow to catch it before Gryffindor's seeker. Another failure knocked her even further down in confidence and seemed to be the cherry on top of a rather unpleasant past couple of weeks.

The Gryffindors threw a May Day party which seemed to lighten her spirits at least a little bit. Eve watched the lions dance around the maypole and got to see Ressy play the violin. But from then on, Eve became more reclusive, attempting to hide in the comforts of the common room and her books. She prepared for the upcoming dueling tournament and threw herself into writing a play with O'Keeffe's support and tutelage, in her attempts to become the next Beedle the Bard

Lentrillion's Orb became more publically known as it infected the school and several students, Ressy included. Eve learned of this by way of letters and the posts in the Owl Post. Scared, stressed, and sad, she became more inclined to hide. While the Castle fell into casual day-to-day chaos of fights erupting in the halls, whilst Professors worked to find a way to banish the orb, Eve stayed in her dorms. She didn't even feel that it was safe to be in the commons, now. Summer called to her, and she ached for freedom from the fighting and destruction - mild as it was in the grand scheme of Hogwart's History.

Eve continued to focus on her studies, her wandwork, and her writing, seemingly trapped in her own mind by choice. It wasn't much different than the days she'd spent at home, being educated by her parents with no friends to speak to outside of her family. The only thing that wasn't the same was the fact that it was now a voluntary exclusion.

By the time the dueling tourney came, Eve had gotten a handle on every spell in her year and was already planning out silly, lighthearted tactics to approach the duel with. The Great Hall had been turned into a magical forest full of mushrooms, ruins, flowers, and delicate lights, the sight of which took Eve's breath away. It was, by far, her favourite transformation of the Great Hall. She sat at the head table with the Headmistress, a ministry guest, and the other champions and watched the duels until it was time for her own.

Everlina went up against Aloy Osiris, an older Gryffindor, who petrified her off the bat. The unceremonious end to Eve's experience with the dueling club upset her so much that she ran away into the ballroom and remained there until the duels ended and the rest of the student body filed in. Awards were given out, Eve even getting one for 'Best in Year' before the time came for dancing. Her date, Bobby, found her, and together they danced and talked about Dungeons and Dragons and other shenanigans they could get up to over the summer. It was enough to chase away the sadness that Eve had. She finished off the night by exploring the empty castle with Ruby, the pair dancing in a small, hidden room behind a painting.

All that remained, then, was exams. Eve was fairly adequate in her results, receiving mostly A's on everything save for a surprising O that she got on her potions exam and another for her Herbology. With exam week over and behind her, there remained only one week left of school before the time would come to return home. She reminisced over the chaos of the year, the mistakes she made, and the regrets that she had, but overall, felt very... light. At peace with herself. She made plans with her friends to play Dungeons & Dragons over the summer and spent her remaining free time exploring the castle and the grounds in the company of her cat and pygmy puff. To her own surprise, she found herself already eager to return in September, and start anew. For now, however, home called, and she boarded the Hogwarts Express thrilled at the prospect of a couple of months of freedom.
·         Summer Holiday
At the beginning of the holiday, Eve's mind was buzzing with writing ideas for the plays she wanted to write. The first that she began working on was the tale of a witch or wizard who shrinks down to the size of a faerie and falls in love with one. But then the phoenix she had dreamed up in the winter came to mind, and creativity struck to write her a complete story of her own. And even shortly after the summer solstice, when the days were hot and everything around her was green and vibrant, she still daydreamed of Autumn and a story about a portal hidden in a locket, to take the wearer to the land of spirits. A land of pumpkin-headed people, where all the trees are painted with oranges and yellows, reds and browns, and the air smells of cinnamon and maple.

Taking inspiration from a muggle work, Milo and Otis, she even considered writing such a tale about the adventures of Puck and maybe even Cornelius. Or her family barn owls, Fable and Wander... or perhaps the four rats that her father and his girlfriend now took care of. She could write a story about a toad exploring the forbidden forest, or a story about a family of rabbits living inside of a giant toadstool...

Her imagination filled her mind like the storm clouds that filled the summer sky. Her new home proved to be quite stimulating for her artistry. So when Eve was alone, she spent her days writing, drawing, or painting, in the comfort of her bedroom - filled with her whimsical trinkets and things - or exploring the cool shade of the forest and all it's running streams. She and Genevieve would bake honeycakes for teatime, and eat fresh strawberries from the garden. When the summer grew late, the trees heavy with fruit and the harvest at its peak of readiness, they would go into the forest and collect basketfuls of blackberries.

Amidst her adventures, Eve discovered a desire for a pen name, or a nom de plume, from a muggle book she was reading called Anne of Green Gables. After a long period of pondering, she eventually settled on the pen name October Faeriefire and became even more excited to work with the owl post in her upcoming second year, not to mention the independent writing projects she had undertaken, what with such a magical name for her to write under.

September drew steadily nearer, and eventually, after months of the rebuild, Hogsmeade reopened! Eve visited it with everyone, happy to see her classmates in the crowd after not seeing them for what seemed like so long. She hadn't even gotten to play Dungeons & Dragons with any of her classmates, and had to settle for sitting in on her father's game sessions. Amongst the festivities, a renowned wizarding band called The Marrows, orchestrated entirely by skeletons, performed in the center of the village. Eve found to her delight that she actually enjoyed them and was no longer afraid of them. This, of course, made her wonder what her new boggart would be.

Within the chaos, the crowd was ushered to the back of Hogsmeade, close to the entrance that leads them to Hogwarts. Here, they came upon a stage that was draped in sapphire blue curtains, with the Ministry of Magic's emblem hanging over in gold. It was here, that the ministry announced that Hogwarts would be hosting the Triwizard Tournament for the upcoming school year, between Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. This also meant that there would be no quidditch for the next year, which, unlike her classmates, relieved Eve. After the past year, she was torn on if she wanted to try out again, after losing every game for her team as a seeker.

This news brought much buzz and excitement, and for some, dread, as it had occurred in the past that people died participating in the Triwizard Tournament. Eve was grateful for the fact that she would be too young to put her name in, specifically for this reason - otherwise, the part of her that loved adventure would push her to try. Instead of having to fret over what would happen if she was chosen, she got to spend the next several weeks leading up to September, wondering what new friends she would make. Whether they be Hogwarts students, or those from the visiting schools.

Amidst this, in August, Eve's grandfather became ill and was sent to St. Mungos. Eve fretted over his health, despite her mother's assurances that he would be okay. At both her mother and her grandfather's behest, Eve attempted to focus solely on the excitement of the upcoming school year. She went to Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, and spent some leisurely time with her classmates, discussing the possibility of bringing her own broom to school and the idea of trying different wands to see if her wand was still the right one.

This also included an instance in which she and Octavia shared an unexpected moment over pints of butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks. They spoke of Ruby and the upcoming school year, and Octavia even apologised for using everte statum on Eve in their second duel together. This completely shocked Eve and actually aided in her excitement for the upcoming school year. If she could leave behind the unpleasant parts of her first year, Eve could focus on the possibilities of her second!

To soak up the last bits of summer, Eve spent as much time outside as she could, enjoying the forest around her home, practicing archery with her father, and watching movies and cartoons that she wouldn't be able to see when she'd be living in the castle. She anxiously awaited the day that was speedily coming, when she and her family would return to Platform 9 ¾ and she would board the Hogwarts Express to return to school.

Year 2 (2027-28)[]

·         Autumn
The school was abuzz with chaos and excitement. Some were thrilled about the new guests, while others felt dread. But absolutely everyone felt one thing, and that was curiosity. There was a lot of speculation, as the days lead up to when Beauxbatons and Durmstrang would arrive, to what might occur when they did. Of course, beyond Hogwarts, there was drama. The goblins had voted to become independent, which had caused strife with Durmstrang's headmaster, and it also caused massive inflation in the wizarding community. Prices doubled, tripled, or in some cases even quadrupled on everyday products. Eve, being away at Hogwarts, did not notice this. She only knew that her parents had pulled their money out of Gringotts, for safety.

The days turned into weeks, and went on, stretching towards October at a snail's pace. Chaos began to erupt in the halls. Pranks were abundant, in dung bombs, burping powder, and all sorts, which Eve thought was perhaps a symptom of restlessness. This caused rifts to form between some of the students, leaving those who were friends with those involved, stranded in the middle. Fights began to erupt, and Everlina, being an emotional sponge, could not handle the discord and negative energy. She herself had an outburst during a large fight that took place after Defense Against the Dark Arts, which she later discovered was a mixture of stress and insecurity. Eve learned that she did not want to let negativity suffocate her, and so she embarked on a mission to bring a small bit of happiness to anyone who crossed her path - usually in the form of sweets that she baked herself.

In late September, Eve received the tragic news that her grandfather had passed away on September 14th, 2027. Her beloved family member and mentor to her seer-nature and interest in divinations, Eve felt this loss hard and learned to use what he'd imparted upon her to cope. Divination classes took on a whole new meaning, and there was a new weight to her practices with tarot cards, pendulums, palm reading, and all other forms of fortune-telling. She was granted permission and escort by her Head of House, Professor Priaulx, to leave the school to attend his funeral. It was an otherworldly affair, in which, after meeting with family, Eve and her magical family members scattered his ashes atop a mountain. Upon returning to school, Eve found she had connected with a strange sense of calm and self.

October finally arrived, and with it, the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students. Eve was awestruck by their powerful presence, and though she kept her distance, she did socialise with the new students when she could. One in particular, the Durmstrang Champion himself, Lars Strangland, became one with which she quickly grew fond of, thanks to the bonding experience of a divinations and a potions class. The Champion, because of Eve's interest in divinations and ability to read pumpkin guts about Lars' future, was henceforth dubbed the 'tiny red-headed prophet' by him.

The Halloween Bash and the days leading up to it bore no ill luck or intent for Eve or her friends, unlike last year, and so she was able to enjoy the hallowed festivities with little worry. Giant skeletons were used as decorations in the Great Hall, and re-affirmed that Eve was no longer afraid of them. Rather, she was more and more unsure of what her Boggart would become. And then, with the quickness of blowing out a candle, October was gone and whisked away.
·         Winter at Hogwarts
They entered November with a bang, as was done every year, with Bonfire Night. The trees quickly grew bare, and the grass lifeless and brown. Mud was more common than dirt, and the chill of the outside began seeping into the castle walls. Eve hunkered down, content to focus on her studies and buzz with the excitement of the upcoming tasks for the Triwizard Tournament. Thoughts of throwing another Death Day Party, as she had done last year, began to fill her head. Around Yule would be a good time to do it, she had decided. And then, she had to think about if she were to stay at the school for the holiday, and more still, what dress she would wear to the Yule Ball!

It wasn't long before it was announced that those who wished to leave the school for the winter holiday would have to arrange so with the Headmistress. The trains would not be running, which meant that most students were staying at the school, with the Durmstrangers and the Beauxbatons students. Eve was thrilled at this, even if she anticipated being terribly homesick. Her mother sent her another dress from a charity shop, as she had done the year prior, and her father sent her snowflake jewelry to wear with it. Ruby asked her to the ball, and the girl dreamed about and anticipated what the decorations in the Great Hall would look like, along with the return of her dreams of the Aurora Borealis. Throughout all of this, she gave more readings to Lars, stretching her talent with Divinations.

A meteorite of some magical sort crashed near Hogsmeade, however, and began interfering with her dreams. Due to the lack of restful sleep, Eve began slipping in her classes. Her dreams were chaotic, fuzzy, and confusing, which she was not at all used to. Nevertheless, she did the best she could, despite being exhausted. It was a welcome sight when the end of the term drew steadily near-er. And, despite being quite anxious and thus far, a "goody-two-shoes," she was terribly curious to inspect the meteorite, whose light she could see from the castle tower windows. Not only that, but she and Aures went so far as to assure each other that they would go on an adventure in the Forbidden Forest, as though they were the heroines of a storybook.

With Marigold's help, Eve threw a birthday in the art room, and invited all to eat cake and splatter paint with her. A surprising amount of people showed, and it was chaotic, overwhelming, and wonderful. Eve was very grateful to spend time with her friends. Lars even pledged to the Second Year that all of Durmstrang would protect her, should she need! Afterwards, she turned her focus to preparing for the Death Day Party. The candy-witch helped once again, when it came to making foods that absolutely reeked of garlic and cranberry, specifically for the ghosts. Winter solstice pies were baked, and the date was set for December 21st. Eve gathered candles and black decorations for the evergreen trees, along with photos of those who were to be honoured, and made sure she'd be able to build a bonfire for the event. Once everything was sorted, it was time to prepare for the ever anticipated Yule Ball.
·         Winter Holiday
Winter break at Hogwarts in 2027 was kicked off with the Yule Ball - a lavish affair in which not only the Great Hall was turned inside out, but the entirety of the castle's grounds as well! Decorations covered the school, and turned it into a magnificent winter wonderland. Within the hall were massive dining tables that held intricately cut ice sculptures, and a stage for the Va Va Veelas to sing, upon their visit to the school. A feast was had, the Champions danced with their dates, and then the school joined them.

All was positively merry, until it was noticed that the Durmstrang headmaster had fallen asleep at the Champion's table. Sleep then became the confirmation of a swift and seemingly painless death. Ruby dragged Eve from the hall so they could enjoy the rest of their evening, unaware of the heartbreak occuring in the hall. It was only at the German Market in Hogsmeade, the very next day, that Marigold confirmed that the Headmaster was not sleeping and had, in fact, passed away. Despite the candy-land that the forest near Hogsmeade had been turned into for the market, Eve did not have the heart to enjoy it.

Shortly after, for the winter solstice, she threw her Death Day Party. Many more people turned up this time than they had lasy year, and she'd managed to get a few photos of deceased loved ones, including a photo of the Durmstrang Headmaster. It was a delicate time, with many of the visiting students freshly mourning, but overall, the party was a success. Many ghosts attended, hers and Marigold's stinky treats were enjoyed by them, and the presence of the dead turned the bonfire they'd made blue. For an event that was given to mourn, it had an air of joy about it. Perhaps it was the Christmas trees draped in black and covered in candles, or jovial ghosts who make jokes about their deaths - even when it offended the Durmstrang Champion.

Eve spent much of the winter holiday in isolation, after that. She pondered the glowing comet near Hogsmeade, wrote, read, and drew. Everything but practicing her spells or potions.

Christmas Eve came, and she spent it in a little room Ressy had done up for the two of them - filled with hot chocolate, snacks, presents, and places for them to sleep overnight, which was an interesting adventure to Eve. The girl had mostly only slept in her own dorm, after all, and it made her wish even harder that her and Aures were of the same house. They spent the day and night in their pajamas, as their imagination ran rampant.

That night, Eve's dreams were pleasant. Her strong desire to have wings only grew by the day, and so it was that even in sleep, she dreamed of them. When she woke up in the morning, she'd gotten half of her wish. Her father granted her request for a broom for Christmas, and so she was sent an old, used model of a 'Moontrimmer' broom - a discontinued broom that is excellent for flying particularly high, though it was not nearly as fast as a Firebolt or Shooting Star. Eve was ecstatic, and even flew around on it in the castle.

Her mother had sent her a heart locket, a soft blanket, and some books, and her step-grandmother sent her a small nutcracker. Eve also acquired some new dolls and snowgobles for her steadily growing collections, which she safely stored in her trunk.

Christmas Dinner was something that was common for those who stayed at Hogwarts during the winter holidays, and this year, Eve got to experience it for the first time. It was such a magical experience, that it made her wish she could stay every year, even though she missed her parents very much. The Great Hall looked comforting and magical, filled with Christmas trees, presents and decorations. Christmas crackers were everywhere, which when pulled, revealed all sorts of goodies and jokes, and the tables were of course flooded with food.

A "jam session" was held in the dueling room, where several students, including some from Durmstrang and Beaxbatons, participated in playing music. Overall, despite the shadow that loomed over them with the recent death, it seemed everyone was keen to have a good time.

Eve spent New Years alone, in the highest tower she could get access to, so she could watch the fireworks that exploded over Hogsmeade once the clock struck midnight. She could hear laughter and sounds of fireworks inside of the castle, too, but her homesickness forced her into seclusion.

The next morning, she joined the Beaxbatons students in a traditional New Year's Polar Dip in the lake, which she immediately regretted - though she did find that she could tolerate being barefoot in the snow, which made sense considering the girl preferred to be barefoot at all times. This was of course one of the things that made her joke about being a /Hobbit/ from /Lord of the Rings/.

The holiday break was ended on a somber note, with the funeral for the Durmstrang Headmaster. He was buried in a glass coffin, taken into the earth by the roots of the whomping willow - a tree he was apparently very fond of attempting to tame. Despite the fact that Eve knew very little of the man, she still felt everyone's emotions, and succumbed to crying and meloncholy. It was a less than ideal way to return to classes, but perhaps an effective way to banish the silly and jovial effect that the holidays had.
·         Winter & The Return to Hogwarts
Upon returning to school, Eve found they had two new professors. A Charms Professor by the name of Devon Purchase, and an Art Professor called December Wellbelove. Everlina was incredibly excited at the prospect of taking proper art classes, and was happy that Charms could pick up where they had left off.

Despite this, however, Eve felt that her skill and her grades were slipping, or perhaps stagnating. Even though she received the opinion of a few professors who were happy with her work, she had grown stir crazy, and felt as though she was not progressing academically. Winter instilled a lazy slothishness in her, and she often spent most of her time daydreaming about going into the Forbidden Forest, or longing for when she could really sleep and actually dream. It was in her dreams that she experienced the adventure she felt she was starving for.

Her wand condition continued to grow worse, as well. The unicorn hair within the vine was starting to show, underneath the crack. This perhaps attributed to her reluctance to practice like she should.

Eve's social life was also suffering. She found she wasn't talking to her friends as often as she should, or spending time with anyone save herself. Lucky for her, she found the start of a kinship with a Gryffindor student by the name of Jamie. Having overheard Eve referred to as an 'oracle' by the Durmstrang Champion, the Lion approached her and asked her about Divination, and Seers. It was revealed that like Eve, Jamie was also a Seer, and the two promised to always be there if the other one needed to talk about the rare and often overwhelming gift.

January progressed, and felt like three months inside of one. Eve found herself growing both bored and exhausted at the same time. However, art class was something she looked forward to, and Professor Maccauley started up a Drama club, which gave promise to artistic projects that she could work on. The itch for adventure still lingered under her skin, however, and only grew more intense when her father sent her an enchanted fennec fox toy, along with a book about a land called Fereldan, where warriors, rouges and mages battled all manner of fantastical creatures.

February brought the Hearty Party and Valentine's Day to Hogwarts, and with it, declarations of... Liking someone a lot! Bobby admitted to Eve that he fancied her, after they escaped from the Hearty Party for a breather. Some internal drama ensued for Eve, who feared she would hurt Ruby's feelings if she pursued something with Bobby. In the end, after a conversation (and some completely missed nonverbal communication) Eve was under the assumption that Ruby was supportive and that he understood that while she fancied both of them, pursuing her feelings for Bobby did not minimise how important Ruby was to her.

The second task arrived, and brought them all into the cold winds of the lake, where they sat in a stadium and watched the water as though it were a television screen, thanks to some well placed enchantments. The three champions dove into the water to rescue what had been taken from them - which, as it turned out, was other students. Durmstrang's deceased headmaster made a public appearance as a ghost, and emotions ran high as those who still mourned his passing coped with his sudden presence, while also trying to grapple with the stakes of the tournament. For a moment, it seemed as though the captives could drown. In the end, everyone was rescued.
·         Spring at Hogwarts
The weather began to warm, if only a little bit, when March came. But with it, the month brought heartbreak for Eve. During a conversation in the clock tower, Ruby discovered the truth about Eve's blood status - that she was really a halfblood. Riddled with paranoia and ideals that were instilled in him by the blood elitists who raised him, Ruby lashed out at Eve while he also destroyed himself. He said all manner of awful things, including the dreaded 'M' word - Mudblood - and told her he hated her. He attempted to cast the spell 'everte statum' at Eve twice, and broke his wand in the process. In the end, Eve only gave up on trying to help him and be there for him, when he pushed her to the ground. Eve ran back to the safe folds of her common room, and collapsed in Bobby's arms, where she fell into an exhausted and tear-filled sleep. Eve left the encounter with a gash in her palm, caused by a splinter of Ruby's wand. Because of her own negligence, this became a faint scar - a constant reminder of what Eve considered to be one of the worst nights of her life.

Eve spent much of her time after that, withdrawing into herself. She hid away in her dorm, to avoid the risk of seeing Rubicon in the halls, and took her time in her attempt to return to 'normal.' She received 19 different offers to join various dueling leagues, of which she was undecided if that was what she wanted to pursue or not. Luckily, she had a whole five years ahead of her to figure it out. Aures' birthday party came and went in a flash of sunshine and gold. Eve slowly healed over her fight with Rubicon by spending time with her friends, the faeries, and Bobby, who became her boyfriend. She turned from hiding in the dorms, to spending time out on the grounds - often barefoot, to enjoy the spring mud.

Political drama between Wizard Kind and the Goblins amped up and turned into protests at public events, as well as a robbery or two at Diagon Alley, but being a student at Hogwarts with little to no affiliation with any Goblins that she personally knew, it was easy for Eve to tune it out. She began to return to her old self, though she was changed and perhaps matured by the loss of her oldest friend and the rapid approach of the end of the year. More antics were had with her friends, including a professor-approved Polyjuice Potion swap with Ressy that resulted in a fun afternoon with Jamie and a few others. More drama occurred with an alleged attack on Durmstrang's acting Headmaster, but Eve hid away from the chaos by instead choosing to sneak out of the castle and fly with Bobby.
·         Summer at Hogwarts
Spring rapidly bled into summer with an orchestra of thunderstorms and rain-showers. The halls became muggy and hot, with every door and window propped open to allow some sort of breeze. The usual end of year classes came - Boggarts, Gillyweed, the lot. Eve discovered that Ruby had, in fact, become her Boggart, and she learned what happened when a Boggart cast the killing curse, too. Exams left as swiftly as they came, and to Eve, they were little more than a distressed blur of 'Acceptable' and 'Poor.' Her mind became infested with dreams of summertime, Rubicon, and her childhood home.

The Champion's Feast arrived, and with it... More Drama. Evidence came to light that the acting Headmaster of Durmstrang was the one responsible for Headmaster Golovin's Death. The Ministry arrived and made the arrest, after much fighting in the Great Hall, and then the next day came... The Third Task. After delving into a bog to get to a forest at the center, the champions found themselves at a ring of fire, which contained a phoenix and the cup. Lars was able to move forward into a realm of mirrors and soul-searching questions, while Elliott and Cardan did not. Ultimately, Lars got to the cup first, and Elliott and Cardan broke into a fight. Durmstrang took the victory home, allowing the ghost of Golovin to find peace and move on to the other side.

Exams finished, and Slytherin won the house cup. Goodbyes were said to the foreign students, and with the train ride home, Eve's chaotic second year came to its end. How odd it would be, to return to the school next year without any additional students to join them.

Relationships[]

Friendships/Acquaintances -

  • Bonnie Nishi - Eve's mother and father had known the Nishi family and been close friends with them for a long time, though Eve was always shy and up until the spring before her first year, she had never directly spoken with Bonnie. Then, on St. Patrick's Day, Eve and her parents took a trip to Hogsmeade where they met up with Bonnie. Both of their parents had arranged for Bonnie to watch Eve, and it was through the excitement of magical inventions and mischief with green sparks that the two bonded. Eve considers Bonnie a dear friend and mentor - and will even jokingly call the Ravenclaw her fairy godmother.
  • Rubicon Mordushku (Ruby) - Eve met Ruby in the forest near her house. The two talked of fairies and their upcoming first years at Hogwarts' School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They quickly became friends, thus making Ruby Eve's first real wizarding friend. They spent much of the summer together, eager to learn magic while also content to spend summer days playing as children do. Though Eve did not see Ruby quite as much when she went on Holiday in Brighton, she found she missed him which made her realize she was rather fond of him. If her time was unoccupied and she was alone, he would often pop up in her mind. Later on at school, it became abundantly clear that the two were best friends. Their tight-knit bond carried on into their second year, until March of 2028 when Ruby discovered Eve was a halfblood, and declared that he hated her, thus breaking her heart in the process.
  • Bobby Billings - On the shore of Brighton Bay, Eve came across a rather odd and somewhat endearing boy named Bobby. Though the two had only known each other for a brief period of time, their friendship grew fast, as they bonded over a love of painting (newly found for Bobby, thanks to Eve!) and beach-time merriment. During school, Bobby became a person who brought great comfort to the girl, even gifting her with his scarf once when she was cold. They bonded over their shared love of ghosts and their time together as housemates, and eventually, feelings developed. In Eve's second year, and Bobby's fourth year, Bobby admitted to Eve that he fancied her, and Eve confirmed that the feeling was mutual.
  • Aures Truegarden (Ressy) - Someone else Eve had first met at Brighton Bay, the girl was immediately drawn in like a moth to a flame because of Aures' veela heritage. Eve found she simply couldn't stop staring at the girl! This made the friendship a little awkward at first, but Eve was able to move past it. The two bonded over fairytales and promises of adventure. After some shared traumas, and shared dances, the two became best friends with a shared craving for something more out of life.
  • Essa Nazari  - Essa was someone else Eve had originally met at Brighton. She found the Ravenclaw to be very insightful, comforting, and encouraging, as she often offered Eve advice about her upcoming year at Hogwarts, and had plenty of stories to share about her own time at the school thus far. Later on at school, Essa became someone Eve could confide into about her seer-nature, because Essa was a seer, as well...
  • Aisling Jones - Eve first met Aisling at Brighton, where she learned that she was a Hufflepuff and the Head Girl of the year that had just ended at the time of their meeting. She was also the one who Eve had learned about the passing of Headmaster Fox from. Eve was inspired by Aisling's artistic prowess and comforted by the girl's seemingly endless compassion.
  • Everett Marston - Everett is a person with whom Eve disliked at first. He had cruel words to say about her best friend, Ruby, which caused the girl to make a quick judgement. After some accidents and a bit of understanding, however, Eve grew to like him and consider him a friend.
  • Talula Shippe (Tal) - Another incredibly helpful housemate, Eve often looks to Talula for inter-house guidance - when she can actually look at the girl, that is.
  • Celeste Noir - A housemate who was sorted with Eve, whom she had ridden to school with on the train, Eve and Celeste became fast friends and bonded over their shared experiences.
  • Caitlin Spector - Of Hufflepuff as well, Caitlin is a bit older than Eve and has always been kind to her. Eve found her to be incredibly helpful and friendly and they became partners in divinations.
  • Marigold Feathersweet  (Mari) - One of her housemates and a dear companion, Marigold has been there for Eve several times throughout her first years at Hogwarts and as such, Eve considers her to be one of her closest friends.
  • Tom Morgan - Eve was wary of Tom at first, insecure and worried that he'd take Aures away from her, and then she would lose one of the few true friends she had. Over time, however, she learned that Tom was, in fact, a good friend to the Gryffindor. After some conversation, Eve befriended him as well!
  • Casey Champion  - Another one of the older students, Eve finds Casey to be sweet and kind!
  • Abecrombe Bond (Abe) - While the two aren't particularly close, they did have a few bonding moments in Eve's first year, and after exams, Eve promised to help Abe study when she saw how anxious exam week had made him. They also made promises to play Dungeons and Dragons together!
  • Lars Stangeland -
  • Jamie Koslarević -

Enemies, Unfriendly, Or Awkward -

  • Octavia Dechants - Eve was utterly oblivious as to any negative feelings the Slytherin might have towards her - that was, until after their very first duel in which the Hufflepuff won on the first spell. After that, Octavia was more direct about her distaste and even sought Eve out which resulted in a fight and an attempted slap - which Eve was lucky enough to block. Unsure of how to cope with someone disliking her - maybe even hating her from the sounds of it, Eve had since decided to keep her distance as much as she can. After a second duel in the club against her, that resulted in Eve being struck with Everte Statum repeatedly by Octavia's hand, Eve eventually sought out the Slytherin Head of House, Professor Rask, for support. This did not do anything to improve her relationship with the Slytherin girl. It was only until the end of the summer following her first school year, that Octavia apologised to Eve for using the painful spell on her, and it seemed from there, that the two were able to leave the past behind them.

Romantic -

Professors -

  • Juniper Green - Eve first spoke to the potions professor at Fox's memorial, when the kind-hearted woman loaned the girl her starry hat. Following her kind words about the former headmaster, Eve grew an instant admiration for the professor and was even more excited to attend potions class than before.
  • Danica Priaulx - Eve's Head of House and Astronomy professor, the girl is already quite fond of this particular professor! She finds the woman to be very warm of heart and accepting of her students, which the girl admires greatly. She's also quite excited about Astronomy, even if the subject is a bit intimidating.
  • Carrick O'Rourke - Flying very quickly became one of Eve's absolute favourite classes, if not her most favourite class of all, and the professor's good-natured attitude towards the students was definitely a contributing factor to this! When the girl first flew on her broom, she ended up flying headfirst into the professor, likely leaving a broom-shape bruise on his back in the process! He was, however, very kind about it and encouraged Eve to try again. And so she did, and discovered flying to be one of her most favourite things on earth!
  • Lane Cavanaugh - One of Eve's favourite professors, she was drawn in by his bright and easygoing personality. The class may not be a favourite of hers, but she always enjoys herself when Cavanaugh is teaching! When he left towards the end of her first year, she was rather sad to see him go.
  • George Vikander - Eve's relationship with this professor, as her fellow students could likely relate, was tense. His teaching method was considerably sharp, and perhaps even cruel. She could not deny, however, that under the pressure of his teaching was her very first success, and she did find herself in moments when the professor was supportive.
  • Giovanni Gallo - Between the completely unique and welcoming personality of this professor, and his creative approach to classes, Gallo is certainly one of the professors that Eve most looks forward to seeing. There are many kind professors in the school, this is true, but there's just something about the way this professor speaks, walks, and teaches that makes Eve positively giddy!
  • Abbadon Blightly - Ever since Eve laid eyes on the Deputy Headmistress when she stepped off of the boat, she knew that she found her interesting. It wasn't until she was being mentally attacked by the cursed organ during her first Halloween at the school, however, that she knew just how caring and fierce the professor truly was. Eve will forever admire Blightly's protective spirit.
  • Valyria Rask - Math was never a good subject for Eve. Numbers and equations get mixed up in her brain and are hard to pin down and arrange properly, and so it was a significant weak point for her. However, Rask's method of teaching made the subject of Arithmancy somewhat easy to understand, and even enjoyable! This aside, Rask's support when Eve found herself tangled in her first encounter with bullying created a level of trust that the Hufflepuff felt towards the Slytherin Head of House.
