Talula Peony Shippe (b. 13 March 2013) is a half-blood, part veela witch from London, England and is the third and only magical child born to parents Valeria and Edgar Shippe. She is a fifth-year Hufflepuff student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Before Hogwarts[]

Before Birth[]

Talula is the third-born child to squib and muggle parents, denied the experience of growing up around magic, even though her magical heritage is quite recent. Her father, Edgar, is from a long line of Hogwarts Slytherin graduates; however for unknown reasons, his magical ability never surfaced. He was shunned and sent out into the muggle world to make a life for himself at the young age of 13, living in and out of foster care, until finally graduating from school and obtaining work as an office temp. He met Talula's mother, Valeria (nee Collins), while on assignment. The pair were married at a young age and started a family. They had two boys before having Talula, named Easton and Yorick, neither of whom possesses magical ability.

Growing Up[]

Talula had a healthy and well-rounded childhood. Her brothers were both very protective towards her, and served as a buffer from any playground bullying. Both parents seemed intent on harvesting a tight knit family unit, since relationships with the extended family were unheard of. The household was on a tight budget, hovering just above poverty most of the time, but simple pleasures were found playing in the streets of East Ham and in the annual trip to Alton Towers, where Talula discovered her inner adrenaline junkie.

Her favorite sport was gymnastics, though she was game to play just about anything that required her to run around. She was a tomboy through and through, always with skinned knees and elbows, though occasionally her mother wrangled her into focusing on more domestic pursuits, including sewing. From a young age she along with her brothers were encouraged to temper their emotions through meditation and breathing exercises, all under the guidance of Valeria, though at the time Talula was quite clueless to the reasoning behind it. Only years later, when at Hogwarts, did she manage to develop awareness of her parents' intentions to keep her fiery veela-fueled reactions at bay, when she was extremely young and more vulnerable to experiencing them.

In spite of her tomboy tendencies, a part of Talula's past includes winning child beauty pageants. Aware of the potency of his daughter's veela heritage and needing a way to supplement the floundering family income, Edgar impressed the idea upon his wife, who took to grooming Talula for competition. As a result of this, she has a notably large collection of trophies and tiaras at home.

First Sign of Magic[]

The discovery of Talula's magical ability appeared very late in her childhood. For her tenth birthday, she assisted in creating a blueberry cake with her mother and was responsible for adding the blue food coloring. Somehow, the properties of the coloring magnified so that all who sampled the cake at her party turned blue from head to toe. The Ministry was alerted to the situation and arrived at the party to reverse the spell's effects and obliviate all muggles' recollection of the occurrence. Talula was then taken aside by her father, the secret ties to the wizarding world explained to her, dumbfounding the ten year old.

By the end of the year her paternal grandmother Hestarina Shippe was in contact with the family. Although her relationship with her estranged son was tense, the woman was determined to connect with her grandchild and culture the Shippe legacy, establishing it in the wizarding community once more. In the summer of 2024, Hestarina invited Talula to stay with her near Marston Vale, Bedfordshire, in efforts to educate the girl on the wizarding world. The parents acquiesced, and Talula left her home in the borough sometime in June of that year.

At Hogwarts[]

Train and Sorting[]

Arriving in King's Cross station, Talula kissed her nan goodbye. She was left with the lingering advice to "stick to those dressed in green", as Hestarina Shippe's hope for her granddaughter was that she would be sorted into Slytherin, same as her late husband. However, Talula failed at fulfilling her nan's wish, finding herself in a cab with other first years who were wondering along with her into which house they'd be sorted, none of them with green-wearing proclivities either. This is where she first met a boy from Brighton named Casey Champion, who would ultimately be sorted into Ravenclaw.

Reeling with energy, Talula chatted up her cab mates throughout the entire train ride, having missed spending time with kids her age. As they arrived at the boats to take them across the Black Lake, Talula started to worry. She had no idea what house she belonged to and, no matter how much her nan pushed for a particular one, her mind refused to settle. The Sorting Hat welcomed them with a song that detailed which attributes applied to each house, and Hufflepuff seemed to resonate with her. Under the Hat, she started to sob, eyeing the Slytherin table with terror, knowing she was not particularly ambitious as her nan had hoped. Without question the hat placed her in Hufflepuff, sensing both her fears and desires.

Talula Shippe meekly creeps forward, pressing her way past the remaining firsties and taking a seat gingerly under the Sorting Hat.  She wrings her hands and releases an involuntary whimper.  A quick glance to the Slytherin table strikes fear in the core of her.  If Nan gets her way, and she gets sorted there, why.. they'll eat her alive!  Talula immediately begins to sob, covering her face with her hands and awaiting the dreaded words from the stupid old hat.... The Sorting hat wiggles its bottom on the young firsties head, in thought, "Well I suppose you would be better off with HUFFLEPUFF!"

First Year (2024-2025)[]

Once the initial thrill of being sorted had dissipated, the new Hufflepuff sought out adventure and, admittedly, mischief within the confines of her new home. During their first free weekend, Talula and friend Mari Sawyer snuck out to investigate the Forbidden Forest. Through use of the Four-Point Spell (the first spell cast successfully by Talula), they found their way to Hogsmeade. It was Talula's suggestion to investigate the Three Broomsticks and perhaps order some butterbeer, since an upcoming Potions project was to create their own recipe and neither girl had ever tasted it. Their adventure was cut short by an unfortunate run-in with Professor Chafferly, who docked 20 points each for their foolhardy behaviour and escorted them back to the castle. Ultimately the punishment from their head of house, Professor Priaulx, was revocation of privileges to attend Hogsmeade weekends for two months, which they both begrudgingly accepted. Further infractions, Priaulx told them via owl, would result in them missing the Halloween dance.

It was during a Xylomancy class when Talula received shocking news from Professor Bellingham, that her stick (nicknamed Nigel) was marked with the Grim. Feeling she'd been had by the professor after some consoling from Hufflepuff prefect Aisling Jones, Talula felt resentment towards someone who seemed to be a rather benign and unassuming professor. Then, out of nowhere, Talula's pygmy puff Nugget died. A funeral service was held in the transfiguration courtyard, attended by a variety of students and a choir of pygmy puffs who sang beautifully to the memory of their fallen comrade. It was assumed that the pygmy puff was simply old and passed away of natural causes, but upon attending a Xylomancy class overseen by Magical Creatures professor Tiona Twine, Talula got the idea that Nigel and Nugget were somehow in contact with one another so as to pass the Grim from innocuous stick onto the unsuspecting puff.

Peril was never too far away from this little badger throughout her first year. Together with Casey, she journeyed into the exposed tunnels beneath the quad courtyard and fought off the acromantulas who attacked them there, along with many other students and faculty. Talula resorting to stabbing one in the eye with her wand in order to distract it from assaulting her Ravenclaw friend. Then, when the 'dhampir' Elliott was on the loose, Talula and fellow Hufflepuff Liam Atmore were pursued in the second floor corridor. Talula managed to evade the dark being, but Liam jumped in the way to save her, suffering a direct attack.

Family was a matter of great importance with Talula as well, seeing that her grandmother Hestarina Shippe was taken into custody in December of 2024 and sentenced to three years in Azkaban after setting Gringotts ablaze with fireballs from her harpy form. This was how Talula learned she was of veela heritage. She spent the holidays in her mother's care once more, as her father tended to the trial at the Ministry of Magic.

Second Year (2025-2026)[]

Second year was a relatively quiet one for Talula, as it was a period of growth in relationships and in understanding herself.

In the autumn months, Talula took notice of how shy her friend Abigail Bluetooth was. In efforts to bring her out of her shell, she coerced third year housemate Nate Phoenix to take Abigail to the Halloween Bash. From there, the pair seemed inseparable. For Tal that blossomed complicated feelings about the nature of best friends, and she found herself struggling to be happy for her friends, as feelings of abandonment crept into the picture. It led to her declaring at the Winter Ball to her friend Casey Champion in a whisper that he was now her best friend. Even to this day, she feels this is an important distinction to keep from Abi, and has not come to the realization yet that the title of best friend certainly doesn't have to be designated to just one person.

Quidditch took a front seat as well, as Talula became an official starter for the Hufflepuff team, taking up jersey #2 to become a chaser. Their first official game against Slytherin was a disaster for the girl, receiving over two dozen bludgers from the snakes and grounding her as soon as the snitch was caught. She was taken to the hospital wing to heal, but the emotional damage had already been done. Fears crept in about playing for a while, as Talula felt her equipment was subpar and that she was an easy target for beater punishment as a result. Luckily her friends came to her aid, with Casey gifting her a new broom for Christmas, and then head girl Aisling Jones giving her a brand new helmet. A secret benefactor (whom Talula has never uncovered) also provided her with a gift certificate to a quidditch supply shop in Diagon Alley, so she could upgrade her uniform to better protect herself. Back in swinging form, she played admirably against the lions in March, scoring a few goals but ultimately losing to the Gryffindor team.

The biggest blow was yet to come, though, when during a Charms assessment near the end of March, Talula's wand misfired and temporarily blinded her. She ended up dropping and stepping on her wand, snapping it in several places. Later that night, Bonnie Nishi as well as Abigail and Nate arrived to assist the girl in picking out a new wand. It was an extremely quick selection, an acacia 13 inch with a dragon heartstring core choosing her as soon as it was touched.

Third Year (2026-2027)[]

With some time to go before a return to Hogwarts, Talula found herself expanding on her independence some with frequent trips to Brighton Bay, a wizarding community centralized near the muggle city of Brighton. She spent her afternoons learning how to surf, window shopping, and meeting up with her friends along the sunny coast. Idyllic to start, Talula still was fairly good at keeping her wand on her, which still proved fruitless when an older woman with the last name Peyroux attacked her and newly appointed Head Girl Bonnie Nishi on the pier. Trapped by vines, Talula had to bear witness to a duel between the older witches, helpless to stop it. Luckily the Ministry was alerted to the situation and reported to the scene, quickly enough to transfigure the Peyroux woman into a turtle and trap her. A Wizengamot trial commenced later in the summer, to which Talula was called to give testimony.

Also near the end of summer a rave took place in Brighton, which Talula was delighted to attend. However, things started going awry when half the attendees were turned into wolves. Without her wand on her, Talula was left defenceless, depending on the quick heroics of newly appointed Head Boy Caryxander Mordushku to save her from attack. While the room was ravaged by the transfigured wixen, Talula escaped with not a single scratch, though she did stay to aid the wounded, notably animagus student Mathilda Botts, who was mauled severely while in bear form. None died that day, thankfully, but it did serve to drill into Tal's consciousness to always, /always/ travel with her wand.

As school began, the usual friendships and rivalries aligned. Her friend Casey was granted quidditch captain for the Ravenclaw team, which made her immensely proud to be seen walking the hallways with him. Additionally, Talula's secret semi-crush and Abigail's boyfriend, Nate Phoenix, became captain for her team. Happy for him as well, Talula seemed to stem off any additional feelings regarding the boy. She had talked with Abigail and Marigold Feathersweet over the summer about it, confessing that there were some feelings there. Thankfully, Abi had forgiven her, and the secret remained between them. After the first match of the year, against Ravenclaw no less, Talula was awarded the role of co-captain by Nate, to which she was extremely surprised and honored to receive.

The time between the Halloween bash and the end of the month saw a strange phenomenon on campus, with the entire clocktower converting into a malicious entity that resembled an organ. Many students' voices were taken, as well as a handful of people disappearing, but Talula was not among those affected. She did, however, face off in the front lines against the angered organ creature, which stole her into a dangerous maze along with some other students. There they discovered the fate of the voices; locked into delicate apples, the student only needed to find the one with his or her name on it and eat it to regain their ability to speak.

With the Yule Ball approaching, Talula experienced some growing pains when her best friend Casey created a scavenger hunt that resulted in him asking her to go with him, and 'not as friends'. Talula said yes, and spent the whole week leading up to the dance, as well as a sizable chunk of the dance itself, worried out of her mind as to what going on a date entailed. Only when the pair got some fresh air did Talula express her concerns, and proclaimed that she was not ready to date Casey. Understanding as always, Casey gifted her with a pendant the next day at King's Cross; it read "No Matter What" as a reminder that in spite of Talula's feelings, they would remain friends. She bore the pendant proudly, wearing it every day, until certain events unfolded at the beginning of fifth year (see that year for more information).

The Hearty Party proved to be a pivotal experience for the third year, who invited Bobby Billings to attend with her instead of Casey. At first the suggestion was a friendly one, but Talula quickly developed feelings for her housemate, which culminated in the two becoming a couple after the dance (then ultimately ending after mysterious circumstances less than two weeks later). This whole situation put a great strain on her friendship with Casey, and the two committed to working out their friendship, in spite of things.

The dueling club also happened to be a big focus for Talula her third year, and she found herself placing as a competitor in the end of year tournament, succeeding in defeating Persephone Vitrac in a blow-away match and securing her spot as best in her year (even though post-tournament fellow third year Aloy Osiris was declared overall winner of the tournament). The festivities culminated in a Midsummer Ball, which Talula attended with her date and fifth year Eric Hyland. The pair had a magical night, first with Tal under the influence of aging potions; later in the night, well after the potion had worn off, Talula and Eric had their first kiss.

Fourth Year (2027-2028)[]

The summer prior to Talula's fourth year was a mixture of work and play, as she spent the bulk of it in Godric's Hollow with Casey Champion and his mother, Chillista Champion. In the weeks leading up to the end of the school year, Casey's paternal grandmother had passed on, leaving the estate to his family. Under Chillista's guidance, the two kids worked on packing up the estate and preparing it for sale. Additionally, Talula took a job at Godric's Gym, working as an attendant. Between jobs, there was some mischief to be had. An international convention prompted many of the wizarding elite to throw lavish parties, one of which drew Talula's attention, since it was being held by Saffron Macauley, someone who had consulted her years ago on the discovery of her being part veela. Determined to attend this party, Talula pursued asking Eric Hyland for aging potions, taking them with a host of kids found in Godrics: Casey, Aloy, and Kitten Ducane. The four disguised themselves as foreign dignitaries, claiming to be Uagadou grads for the course of the night.

RedsMysteryShackFourthYear

When the night concluded and they had reverted to their original selves, Talula seemed to see Casey Champion in a new light. His surface developments into a mature, grown man allowed her to see the path her friend was taking, and when he de-aged once more, he still seemed a bit older than before. Exploring the beach in Godric's that night, not wanting things to come to a close, the pair wandered out onto the rocks and had what can only be described as a 'near-miss' incident; on Casey's withdrawal, the pair opted to gloss over the experience, seeing as they were dating other people.

There was also a need to be as reasoned and friendly as the two could muster moving forward, as the pair had a trip to take to the states. Before third year ended, Talula had received a strange invitation from a distant relative living in Louisiana named Sylvie "Red" Desmarais, who was interested in meeting the girl and seeing if she might be a good candidate for taking over the family business of maintaining a roadside attraction that served as a front for a sasquatch preserve. Parental approval and tickets acquired, both Talula and Casey made the long trek to America to spend time at Red's Mystery Shack. A great deal of time was spent learning the ins and outs of running such an establishment, with focus particularly on the very peaceful yet reclusive herd of sasquatches Red protected with perimeter charms. A bit of the language and customs of the creatures were learned, and Talula was encouraged to ride one at one point, which was a terrifying experience for someone who had a pervasive fear of magical creatures. Yet, with the support of both Casey and Red, Talula managed to overcome her fears somewhat, and to this day, speaks of the experience fondly: a huge step towards acceptance. One might even say, a bigfoot sized one.

School began, and Talula began to get flack from various sources (namely Aloy Osiris and Tom Morgan though) regarding the nature of her relationship with Eric. Many people thought he was too old for her, and ultimately, Tal gave into peer pressure and called things off, seemingly to Eric's disappointment. The two continue to be friends though. Things seemed rather normal for the young veela after that; with the exception of the arrival of the other schools for the TriWizard Tournament, Talula's life consisted of attending classes and running her newly founded Spark Club, a matchmaking service for the students of Hogwarts. Around the time she was organizing the club, did fifth year Gryffindor Chadwick Spaulding start to take an interest in her. Talula didn't think much about the stares, chalking them up to more veela-reactionary behavior.

Around the same time, Talula received a couple proposals to attend the Halloween Bash: first from Lex Ashworth, who wanted to skip the Spark Club altogether and ask Talula directly. She needed time to consider, especially since Lex had in recent weeks gotten into a brawl with Aloy, going so far as to kick her in the face. Ultimately, after a talk with Aloy about it, Talula shot him down. Similarly, Jamie Noel Koslarević, a then third year Gryffindor, took it upon themselves to ask Talula as well. The warm feelings were mutual, but Talula was hesitant again; something nagged her into waiting it out... only then did Chadwick Spaulding make his move. In a moment of weakness, Talula chose to go with Chadwick instead of Jamie, going so far as to lie to the latter about being asked by Chadwick first. After a very emotional conversation with Jamie, who realised they were being lied to, Talula came clean and the two have tried to make a stronger friendship in the wake of the mess.

Talula and Chadwick Spaulding: Yule Ball 2027

In the end, Talula attended the bash with Chadwick, dressed as Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI respectively. There was some mockery over her date's outfit, but the boy seemed to take it in stride. Most likely because later in the night, he got the opportunity to snog Talula outside in the courtyard. Things seemed to be going swimmingly, until Casey appeared, just as the pair were locking lips. Tal felt embarrassed and retreated from the bash shortly thereafter.

With the passing seasons, a tumultuous and frankly annoying relationship transpired between Chadwick and Talula, much to the disappointment of most people. Some point in the spring, Talula started to snap. How the events developed is a bit of a blurred recollection, but she remembers at one point being struck by Chadwick in front of the Great Hall, resulting in Casey's retaliation. That's when she hung up on the chains on what was potentially her worst boyfriend ever, even to this day still considered the absolute bottom of the barrel.

Inpursuitoflyrids

And through it all, there was Casey Champion. While the rest of the school was reeling over Tri-Wizard trials and dead Durmstrang headmasters, at the core of Talula's concerns wasn't the foreign affairs. It was a realisation that things were changing in her mind, and that the eagle with the loyalty of a badger who consisted of her best friend, was so much more. A few nights prior to Casey's fifteen birthday, Talula surprised him with an invitation to the groundskeeper's hut. Waiting there was a winged horse that, through previous training aided by Professor Dracheblume, she had learned to overcome her fears with. Using the horse (named Snowdrop) to take Casey above the clouds, they circled to view the evening sky and the Lyrid meteor shower that dotted it, the only birthday gift Talula could think to give. As they landed on the rooftop of the viaduct for a pause, it was at Talula's prompting that the two, finally, FINALLY shared their first kiss. From there, things were quite different, and although many figured that the coupling had been sparked at the Beauxbatons Masquerade a few weeks later, the truth was they had been a couple since the fateful night of the Lyrids.

About Talula[]

Appearance[]

"If Bobby Billings had any less restraint he'd have probably told Talula how hot she looked when she was angry, /again/. But it really did seem like she was ready to explode in Veela Fury, and Bobby thought better than to poke that fire waiting to explode."

Talula has grown to be a slender young lady, a little taller than average for her age, with dark blonde hair that varies in length on any given day due to her tendency to cast the Profundus charm. She has jade green eyes, and her skin is lightly tanned but oftentimes flushed from exertion. She is unnaturally pretty, and that can be attributed to her veela heritage. She prefers skirts to slacks when it comes to her uniform, but is more comfortable in jeans when the occasion calls for casual wear. Admittedly, in recent times Talula had grown more confident with the attention she receives for her fit figure and takes pride in showing it off, notably wearing cropped shirts that prominently display her six pack.

Personality[]

At first glance, one is usually struck by Talula's appearance, but her personality is strong and overpowers people's opinions of her quite quickly. She has a gruff East Hammie's way of addressing other people, which she frequently does through anecdotes about her family back home, very clear influences on her approach to life and the world. She is friendly and approachable on some days, moody and ill tempered on others, and as such has a reputation for being rather unpredictable in temperament.

Talula speaks with a Londoner's accent known as MLE (Multicultural London English), clearly from the borough of Newham for any local to decipher. The dialect however has softened over her tenure at Hogwarts, a slight bit of adaptation on her part to conscientiously speak clearer, and to emulate her friends' way of communicating a bit (with them adopting a few of her colloquialisms as well in kind). Though she may oftentimes reflect a way of speaking that denotes a lower class, the meat of her dialogue doesn't necessarily echo a lack of knowledge or education: not by default, anyway.

In regards to intelligence, Talula possesses a keen passion for specific things (less so for others) and that passion can translate to wisdom at times. For the most part though, she is not the smartest nor most bookish person, much preferring movie adaptations over reading if available. She is a treasure trove of all things in muggle popular culture: everything from oompa loompas to TOWIE to A Tribe Called Quest. She is currently fascinated with 90s music of all genres and has a secret stash of records hidden somewhere in the castle.

Additionally it should be noted that Talula is a bit conceited and definitely used to being spoiled, because of the way people have approached her in her young life. She revels in being doted upon and receiving gifts, though she does project a great deal of enthusiasm for any well-meaning attention she earns; it's usually through the kindness of acquaintances that she is able to enjoy the finer things in life after all, and her family has reminded her of this often.

Talula has a very active lifestyle and visits the pitch every morning to jog or to practice her tumbling. She is also known to be an adrenaline junkie, with a passion for riding roller coasters and, more recently, the fastest broom she can get her hands on. She has aspirations to own and enchant a motorcycle one day, but only time will tell if she achieves that goal.

She supports West Ham United and knows the words to "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles", which she hums when in a good mood, revealing her support for the football club to any muggleborns around her.

Talula is left-handed.

Magical Aptitudes[]

Talula is by no means gifted, but performs above average at a choice selection of subjects that pique her interest, with Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and History of Magic among her strongest areas of study. However, she is less committed to subjects such as Potions, Herbology and the dreaded Care of Magical Creatures.

Preferred spells: Hair-thickening Charm (Profundus), Throw Voice Jinx (Ciendi Ora) , Tongue-Tying Curse (Mimble-Wimble)

Problematic spells: Mending charm (Reparo), Hair-Loss Curse (Calvorio)

Exam Scores[]

Classes listed below are not the only courses attended or tested, though scores are released only for those Talula would've canonically attended each year.

Class First Year Second Year Third Year Fourth Year Description
Astronomy E A A A Talula has no idea how she's passing this class. She finds Astronomy to be utterly confusing and she probably would be failing if it weren't for her close relationship with confirmed astro-nerd Casey Champion.
Care of Magical Creatures N/A A N/A N/A Talula avoids this class like the plague, only coerced by faculty in second year to attend to face her worst fears. Coincidentally enough, that was the year of the Hippogriff Incident, which Talula takes great pains to forget.
Charms O E O O Once known among the firsties as one of the stronger spellcasters in her year, Talula has always performed admirably at Charms, though her wand has been quite temperamental at times, stubbornly rejecting the more advanced spells for her year.
Defence Against the Dark Arts P A O E Willing to put her best foot forward, Talula is fearless and eager to learn in this class. She enjoys thinking creatively during practicals, but finds lectures and discussions on ethics mind-numbingly boring. All she asks is for some "proper action" to test her mettle against.
Divination O O O O It isn't so much that she truly believes herself capable of predicting the future, but Talula strives very hard to perform well in this class all the same. Maybe it has something to do with the pretty art on the tarot cards. At any rate, applying herself has paid off with Os each and every year.
Flying O N/A N/A N/A Talula is an adrenaline junkie at heart and took to flying much faster than many of her peers, earning a slot as chaser on the Hufflepuff quidditch team her first year. Thanks to the support of her fellow team members, she has a strong grasp on the game mechanics, which translated to high scores in this class.
Herbology E A E A Barely able to read the material without going cross-eyed, Herbs has bored and always will bore the piss out of Talula. As such, she puts less and less effort into it each year. She suffers through this class with all the effort she can muster up, not to simply faceplant on the desk immediately as the lecture drone commences each week.
History of Magic E O O E Finding the course material for the most part very interesting, Talula can tolerate the long lectures and even answer many questions in class due to her love of history carried over from muggle school. Plus, there is rarely homework assigned, and Talula's bound to love a class without homework.
Magical Theory O E A N/A Talula, although not the most cerebral person, still managed to be entertained by the discourse that occurred in Magical Theory class: at least the first year. Since then though, her scores slip more and more each term until she's given theory mostly a hard pass, focusing her attention more on practical applications.
Potions E A A P One of Talula's worst subjects, at least in practice (she had a great deal of help studying for the end of term exam, and lucked out when asked to make the Developing Solution, the only potion she's ever practised making regularly). Typically Tal has a history of things going wrong in this class, from being stung by a billywig and suffering its effects for a week, to the Great Cauldron Head Incident of 2024.
Transfiguration A O O E By and large one of Talula's favorite subjects, in spite of how challenging it can be. Her wand seems to align favorably with this spellwork, and so Talula finds with careful application, she can usually succeed in casting. It's the theory that trips her up, yet Talula hopes her struggle will just make her a stronger spellcaster in the future.

Possessions[]

First Wand[]

Talula was initially in possession of an unyielding 7.5" beech wand with a unicorn tail hair core. It was a long ordeal by which she obtained this wand, going through the selection process at Ollivander's with her father in attendance. The little girl tried many wands, which at first amazed her with their intricate carvings, gem inlays, and many other aesthetic properties. However, none of the wands wanted to perform for her. She went through nearly a dozen before a simple beech wand, no bigger than a letter opener was presented to her. Exhausted and annoyed, what happened next is by her account:

"I took the wand out and I remember pointing it at the wandmaker. It wasn't nice of me, but I flicked it and the man yelped. At first I was terrified that I had hurt him, but then he complained of twitchy ears, taking off his cap and showing them to me. That just made me more upset. I thought he was playing a trick on me, and I shoved the wand into his arms and stormed out of the shop. My father had to buy the wand and give it to me later once I had calmed down."

During her first year, Talula only felt slightly amicable towards her wand, perhaps because she was still on some level bitter about the process. She felt that her wand performed only as good as it had to, not really grasping the "subtlety" beech wands are supposed to possess.

Although its performance was notably volatile in the early part of her second year, Talula's wand surprised her when it successfully disarmed third year and fellow housemate Nate Phoenix in a skirmish. After that incident, Talula took great pride in the reliability of her wand, trusting it to perform when it absolutely must, which is better than nothing at all.

Second Wand[]

Talula's beech wand was broken in her second year during a Charms assessment, and so needed to be replaced. Thankfully, then sixth year Ravenclaw Bonnie Nishi provided a box of wands for her to attempt at another selection.

She is now the owner of a 13 inch acacia wand with a dragon heartstring core. The process was surprisingly quick this time, the wand reacting exceptionally as the first one to lay in Talula's hand. It is rumoured that acacia and dragon heartstring together create a dangerously powerful and temperamental wand, likely to rival her previous one. But, only time will tell...

Brooms[]

For her second year in school, Talula was bequeathed her nan's ancient Comet 230 model (constructed circa 1975) when her family was cleaning out her abandoned estate. Prior to that, Tal owned but never used a Comet Junior (a toy broom belonging to her dad during his younger years), as she wasn't allowed to take it to school and using it in her muggle neighborhood would be problematic. The 230 model served her somewhat inadequately through the badgers' first quidditch match of the year against Slytherin; due to the number of bludger collisions, it is safe to assume that the model suffered from a lack of acceleration.

Frustrated more by her subpar armour, Talula overlooked this very crucial detail, though Casey Champion did not. For Christmas of her second year, Casey gifted her a brand new Galeforce broom, known for its excellent acceleration and other safety features, such as auto-balancing and collision mitigation. The Galeforce was notably a safety conscious model, mid-range in price, but a definite improvement to the ancient Comet. Talula treasures her Galeforce, and is particularly fond of the custom carving of her name in the handle: a sentimental touch that boosts the overall value of the broom in her mind considerably.

A cherished, yet short lived companion, Nugget was a rainbow coloured pygmy puff obtained by Talula at Diagon Alley in the weeks prior to arriving at Hogwarts for the first time. Not particularly personable but at least fuzzy, the puff was found perished under her dorm bed during a stay in the castle while others were at Hogsmeade weekend. The cause of death is still an unanswered question, with most likely assumption being old age (Talula had gotten a sizeable discount on him, which others led to guess he was already on the outs health-wise). A funeral was held for Nugget in the Middle Courtyard, near the Astronomy tower, and to this day a gravestone remains, covered with ivy and practically forgotten. Its neighbor is the grave for a presumably much-loved spider owned by Hogwarts graduate Dottinous Foul.

Gemini the Rat(s)[]

From winter break of first year onward, Talula was the owner of twin rats whom she referred to as Castor and Pollux; frequently she also called them 'Gemini' when in the company of staff or prefects (so as to avoid having one of them taken away). They were nearly identical in appearance, with grey fur covering most of their bodies and white muzzles. She kept one in a cage in her dorms while the other traveled with her in her backpack, always destined to carry them separately and never quite certain which one was which. At least, that was until fourth year, when Castor passed away. He was given a viking burial at sea, while Pollux persisted a few more months, finally succumbing to old age in the summer before fifth year. In the time that she had Gemini, Talula developed a strong appreciation for rats, recognising them as the most precious of pets at Hogwarts: arguably the smartest of all the pet species, with sadly the shortest lifespans. In encountering other students with rat companions, she dotes on them incessantly, left with the lingering respect for such sweet and clever creatures.

Cheeseburger the Cat[]

As of Easter holidays in her fifth year, Talula is the owner of a Russian Blue/British Shorthair mix, an adolescent cat with a kindhearted disposition. She has very recently been dubbed Cheeseburger, though further details about her personality quirks and tastes have yet to be discovered. It has been implied recently by a jarvey that she is quite stupid, but that's based on Talula lying about her tardiness to class and claiming the cat accidentally vomited a technicolour mess of Puking Pastilles all over Siren Resling's bed.

Nigel[]

Nigel was a dead pine branch Talula found early on in her first year at Hogwarts. Initially collected as part of an assignment for xylomancy, Talula took it upon herself to bond with the stick, giving it a name and claiming it also had a personality all its own. In a later xylomancy lesson, Professor Bellingham shockingly revealed that Nigel was marked with the Grim, an omen of death. Unsure of who to believe until her pygmy puff Nugget died unexpectedly, Talula kept Nigel under her bed, afraid to touch or interact with it unless required to bring the stick to class.

She kept her fingers crossed that the opportunity to burn Nigel for a reading would present itself, but as the year waned Talula had her doubts. So, one day she opted to cut the long branch into a series of wand-length pieces, bundling them and providing them to Bellingham as a gift through the rose gram service. In a note included with the bundle of sticks, Talula explained that the Grim had been cut away and discarded in the Black Lake. The rest of Nigel now belonged to Bellingham, and Talula suggested that her professor use the bundle for kindling. According to nearby sources, Bellingham was delighted and touched to receive his gift, even crying a little out of happiness. The current whereabouts of Nigel's remaining pieces are unknown.

Rune Set[]

Talula's abalone shell rune set

Awarded as a prize from Professor Cassand Eidolon for the most impressive score out of all the divination final exams, Talula treasures this gift dearly. The runes are a collection of beautiful iridescent abalone shell pieces, all roughly the same size and colour, with each rune meticulously carved into the surface and painted with black lacquer. Every so often Talula pulls the set out to practice readings, though she tries to approach each attempt with the utmost respect. Only when struck with a particularly vexing issue will she turn to the runes for guidance.

TalulaShippe2028

A fifth year Talula sporting the "No Matter What" necklace gifted to her by Casey two years prior.

Necklace[]

Starting in winter of her third year and continuing until October of 2028, almost always on Talula's person was a necklace bearing two trinkets: a button sized pendant that reads "No Matter What", as well as a small half-heart that seems to ebb and flow with a variety of colours. Tal could be spotted checking the latter from time to time, her reaction to it seeming to promote her ability to interpret said colours, though it would take some personal prodding for her to ever reveal the charm's purpose. Since Casey's abrupt departure in their fifth year, the necklace was confined to a small trinket box in her trunk, as the changing colour function seemed to cease at that time, which disturbed Talula. Out of sight and mind, the necklace was only retrieved upon his return to school, though she has yet to wear it again.

Duffel Bag[]

Talula is typically carrying her duffel bag when in uniform. It contains the following items at all times:

  • folio with sheets of parchment
  • two standard quills
  • one Quick Quotes Quill
  • inkwell
  • developing solution
  • camera
  • two bottles of water
  • two calming draughts

Relationships[]

Family[]

Theshippefamily

The Shippe family, during the summer of 2025.

  • Edgar and Valeria Shippe (parents): Talula has a very good relationship with both her parents, and is particularly fascinated with her father's magical upbringing. However she never wishes to upset him and so leaves questions related to the matter out of her frequent correspondence. Valeria is a very reserved and patient woman, focusing on a gentle approach to parenting. She can also be somewhat spacey over the status of her only daughter, oftentimes getting the wired crossed and assuming that Talula is in attendance at an academy for Olympic hopefuls, as the family informs inquiring friends and neighbors. For the muggle woman, it's rather difficult at times to believe the truth, or so it seems. ((OOC Note: Edgar and Valeria are both NPCs at the time of this writing.))
  • Easton and Yorick Shippe (brothers): At age 20 and 18 respectively, Talula's brothers Easton and Yorick played an integral role in her childhood development. Both were extremely protective of their little sister. They still tend to call her Lu, and have no qualms about roughhousing her and treating her like the tomboy they have always adored intensely. Both brothers are completely unaware of their veela heritage, as the DMAC deemed their situations to be "wholly muggle" and as such, they've been obliviated before. Talula herself believes this is for the best, since their egos would threaten to consume them if they were aware of the actual power they held over the ladies of London. ((OOC Note: Easton and Yorick are both NPCs at the time of this writing.))
Tal and Vivi 2029

Talula with her niece Vivian, spring 2029

  • Vivian Boyd-Shippe (niece): The firstborn of Easton Shippe, Talula has spent significant time over breaks since Vivian's birth, assisting in caringf for the precocious toddler. Not much is known about Vivian at this point, except that she is determined to be 1/16th veela, and is still young enough to potentially display signs of magical ability. At only three, there's still plenty of time. ((OOC Note: Vivian is a NPC at the time of this writing.))
Hestarina and Talula Shippe

Talula with her grandmother Hestarina Shippe, circa 2028

  • Hestarina Shippe (grandmother): A far more important relationship than Talula realized for a long time. Hestarina is responsible for the girl's preliminary education in the wizarding world and also served as her official guardian for the summer of 2024. She handled all paperwork sent to her from Hogwarts and took a very strong interest in Talula's activities and achievements at school during the first few months of her first year. Furthermore, Hestarina is half-veela, a trait passed to Talula that she was not aware of until the Gringotts attack in December 2024. Hestarina served a three year sentence in Azkaban for her crimes, and was released in the spring of 2028. Her relationship with Talula continues to grow, as an incident in Cajamarca, Peru in the summer before fifth year, where they managed to escape with their lives, seems to draw them together even more. ((OOC Note: This is an approved character at MM, played from the SL account Simply Opaque.))
  • Sylvie "Red" Desmarais (distant relative): The Shippe family tree is a long and complex one, but somehow, the pieces fit together, leading Red to contact Talula in her third year. With no other living magical relatives, the nanogenarian reached out to the young girl, inviting her to visit Louisiana in hopes of handing over her business someday. Red is the benefactor and sole propreitor of Red's Mystery Shack, a highway tourist trap which serves as a front for a Sasquatch preserve, which the old woman protects with deterrant spells. To say Talula experienced a bit of culture shock, would be an understatement, not that she didn't enjoy herself eventually. But, as it stands, Talula has no intention of moving to the states and taking over the business someday: which is all well and good, because Red is still kickin' it, and will probably live to 150 at this rate. ((OOC Note: This is an approved character at MM, played from the SL account Simply Opaque.))
  • Veritus Gandy (half-uncle, deceased): Responsible for applying the Imperio curse that prompted Hestarina Shippe to attack Gringotts in 2024, Veritus Gandy, firstborn son of Vito Shippe and Clementine Gandy, swindled his way into the affections of the half-veela who had broken up his birth parents' relationship, essentially garnering a romantic attachment (albeit one based on lies) from his widowed stepmother. After Hestarina was released from Azkaban, Veritus emerged from the shadows once more, in an attempt to continue his path of destruction against the Shippe veelas, centering on young Talula and her closeness with Casey Champion to convince them to visit Cajamarca, Peru, following a false tip that Gringotts had uncovered an artifact belonging to Casey's father. While there, the truth was revealed in a dangerous series of events, involving Casey's kidnapping and ultimately the demise of Gandy, when Talula cast the knockback jinx that thrust him back into a collapsing cave, crushing the man instantly. This singular experience is responsible for Talula being able to see thestrals now, as she finally witnessed death: at her own hands, no less.

Friends, Acquaintances, and Mentors[]

Organised by current levels of significance to Talula.

  • Casey Champion: A long and storied history, rife with challenges, emotional shifts, and harrowing moments to bring them ever closer, Talula and Casey are the truest of committed relationships. It's common knowledge in Hogwarts since arriving for Sorting Day in 2024 that these two are an inseparable pairing, no matter what flux in their relationship status may present. Each year brought them closer and closer, that even with the awkward dynamic of dating other people through third and fourth year, they persisted in keeping their loyalties to one another through the simple yet often quoted statement "No Matter What": which, for a time, Talula bore around her neck on a gifted pendant from the Ravenclaw. For Casey's fifteenth birthday, the girl gifted him with a meticulously planned outing on winged horse up to see the Lyrid meteor shower above the clouds. That night, their relationship was realised as romantic. However, with Casey's abrupt departure from Hogwarts in October of 2028, Talula bore the heartache of separation through most of the year, unsure of when they would ever meet again. Upon his return five months later, to the day and on Talula's sixteenth birthday no less, the reunion was fraught with tension. That period though was short-lived; as some of Casey's other friends proceeded to reject him, Talula interceded in his defence, a much-needed step towards normality again, at least between the pair. It only took a few weeks until Talula and Casey were reunited romantically as well: coincidentally enough, this time on his sixteenth birthday.
  • Abigail Grace Bluetooth: One of Talula's longest standing best friends, a staple of her social life since first year. Abigail both inspires and amuses Tal with her ambitious nature. Never quite understanding how Abi ended up in the house of snakes, much like the rest of the school, Talula happily embraces the friendship they've maintained, more or less, over the years. A recent blip in their closeness on account of a disagreement over Casey's return to school, left them estranged for a time. Now at least everything seems right with the world; perhaps that's partly due as well, to the conclusion of the quidditch season, where they play on opposing teams.
  • Juno Pennington: Unbeknownst to the school, is Talula's covert relations with the Snack Queen of Slytherin, Lil J herself. To what degree do they know each other, though? It seems whenever Tal and Juno are in the same vicinity, there's a familial understanding, with references to the hood and each others' families. Considering Lil J is a known pureblood and Talula, the product of muggle society, one might find it curious the two have any history at all. And yet, there it is.
  • Belial Geller: A recent addition to Talula's social circle, she's not entirely sure how he got there. The fifth year Gryffindor, known around school as 'Gargoyle Geller', is a bit of a mood. No, correction, a LOT of a mood. This little skinny edgelord, who takes cracks at Talula frequently, has still managed to win a place of endearment in her thoughts, and yes, she's entirely aware of just how insane that seems. Befriend someone who calls you "Drowned Rat" and "Bottle Blonde"? Yet, to Talula there's something to be said about his bracing honesty, the admission that yes, she was beautiful and he could see that, but he wasn't attracted to her, and never, ever wanted to snog: a stance she respects wholeheartedly.
  • Bonnie Nishi: Head Girl of Talula's third year. The pair have been through a great deal together, starting with the summer of '26, when a Peyroux matriarch attacked both Talula and Bonnie. Ever since, Tal's looked up to Bonnie as a mentor but also as a friend, one she would protect with all the badger ferocity in her, in spite of the age gap and, conversely, the glaring difference in spellcasting skills.

  • Dawn Rothenberg: The sole badger Rothenberg of the famed Rothenberg triplets, Talula has grown to care for this troubled firstie a great deal. Helping her discover a path to catharsis in the form of beater for the quidditch team, Tal is immensely proud of Dawn, for channeling her anger through a useful hobby. The young badgers has gone through a lot in the short tenure at Hogwarts, some issues left unspoken yet quietly understood between her and Talula. Currently, Dawn is benched from the team via disciplinary measures issued by their head of house, but Talula hopes she'll get a chance soon to fly again.
  • Leilani Tamriel: Talula's little chaser, her Alley-Oop. Lani's been a devotee of Hufflepuff quidditch since day one, being perhaps the very first interested party to sign up for try-outs in Talula's first year as captain. Her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn the position of chaser earned her a starting position on the team, and Tal's continually impressed by the first year's commitment and drive to better her game. For Easter holiday, Talula gifted her and her friend, fellow housemate and first year Jace Hume, go-karts her brother Yorick had fashioned out of toilets. They are magically fueled through unorthodox means, by drinking Maximum Turbo Farts potions. Still, she hopes the eleven year olds find it... a gas. :D
  • Olivia Hatton: Talula's star seeker, an eager little firstie with a heart of gold that she adores. Tal considers Oli to be the heart of the badger quidditch team, and feels for her every time a win slips through the girl's fingers. Because when Oli hurts, the team hurts. Fingers crossed, Talula hopes to see the seeker soar, so the rest of the team can soar right along with her.
  • Persephone Vitrac: The famed Holyhead Harpies chaser and former Slytherin has always been positively doting towards Talula, which with age the veela has grown to accept with grace. Granted, these days it's less doting and coddling, and more dopey grins. Though they do not often cross paths, Percy has always played an influencial role in the background of Talula's life, whether as a rival quidditch player, a meddling cousin to her romantic interest, or just a solid role model to look up to.
  • Tom Morgan: The Prat Himself, Talula and Tom haven't always had the most considerate of relationships, his chummy relations to Matt Warren in first year leaving a sour taste in her mouth. Then there was the whole dating Aloy thing, which yes, Talula took in stride, but didn't warm her all that much to him anyway. What did turn her opinion was how he offered to take her to the Halloween Bash, two weeks after Casey's departure from school. Though the experience was a bit awkward, thanks to very strange choice of costume on Tom's part (see Year Five) and the tenuous relations he still held with Aloy Osiris post-break up, the fellow Hufflepuff turned out to be, quite surprisingly, a very agreeable and entertaining date. Without him at her side, Talula would've been miserable. But she wasn't and for that, she will be forever grateful.
  • Perry Fairewell: A magical Slytherin with a passion for all things floral. This diminutive little snake is quickly growing to be one of Tal's favourite people. They also share a love for seamstressing.
  • Caitlin Spector: A good egg, and a devoted player on the quidditch team. Caitlin is the epitome of perfectly behaved badger in Talula's eyes. The same-year prefect is diligent and hard-working, and someone she admires greatly.
  • Peach McCants: Perhaps at one time Talula would consider Peach McCants among the awkward relationships, by virtue of the fact that she dated Casey for a time, but that all seems behind both girls (at least how Tal views it). Peach strikes Tal as a delightful companion and housemate, and loved spending time with her recently at affairs both at Hogwarts and on break.
  • Siren Resling: Although not the closest friend, Talula regards her housemate as one of the best prefects Hufflepuff has ever had. She does wish the two were closer, but it's a rare occasion when the two's interests cause them to collide. Of course, there's a lot of time left at Hogwarts, and social circles can always shift.
  • Riven Redwhisper: The brains behind the Eagle team's operation, as Talula sees it. Riven's been through a great deal since arriving at Hogwarts, and through it all, Talula retains a care and occasional concern for the Ravenclaw. Though not terribly close, there's still an unspoken understanding from the veela's perspective, that she can come to Riven with anything troubling: her dreams, in particular.
  • Aures Truegarden: Charming, delicate, daresay a bit innocent, Talula finds this younger veela to be incessantly sweet. It took Tal a while to even figure out that Ressy was a veela, due to the proximal discussion with the affected leading Tal to believe herself the cause. On occasion the two have spoken, with Talula serving as advice-giver on things romantic, mostly.
  • Danica Priaulx: Hufflepuff's head of house. Although a commanding and intimidating figure, Talula values the sageness of this mentor, surprised with the insightfulness offered to her regarding her OWLs and career plans. Professor Priaulx has proven herself to be caring and supportive of the badgers who seek her out, something that hasn't escaped the young veela.
  • Oleander Mortiferum:
  • Linus Delaney:
  • Eilidh Dashwood:
  • Caryxander Mordushku:
  • Aisling Colquhoun: The former head girl and graduate of Hogwarts is someone Talula looked up to strongly in her younger years.
  • Mathilda Saoirse Botts-Onyilguwo:
  • Samuel Jones: Talula can't help but adore her hufflebro. This fellow badger is crazy about flying, which built a bond between the pair almost instantaneously. Although Sam hasn't shown the greatest interest in quidditch in recent years, Talula will always remember fondly how they shared team chaser duties in earlier times.
  • Sila:

Romantic Interests[]

Organised in chronological order.

  • Matt Warren: Talula's first kiss, if you want to count his cheek. The boy seemed infatuated with Talula, and it was only a matter of time before they were having the LIKE like talk. However, after telling his best friend Tom Morgan that they in fact snogged, Talula was furious with the fellow then-firstie. She has since moved on, chalking up the whole experience as a disastrous experiment in trying to understand the interests of twelve year old boys. Granted, they haven't improved much over the years, either.
  • Bobby Billings: Talula's first boyfriend, known for his everpresent cheerful attitude, inventive thinking, and exponentially shrinking waistline. At the time of their pairing, he tended to hang around with the ghosts in the dungeons. Bobby and Talula parted ways only two weeks after starting a relationship, and only the two of them know the reasons why, being sworn to secrecy about it so that they could part amicably without sullying either's reputation. It should be noted that Talula was love potioned in February of 2029 and for one horribly awkward evening, agonised through the aftermath of catching Bobby in her sights, snogging him and professing her undying love for him. Thankfully their friendship recovered and is stronger for it.
Wiki-winterball2028

Talula with her date Cypress Chalamet at the 2028 Winter Ball

  • Eric Hyland: Current head boy and former object of Talula's affections, Eric Hyland and Tal began dating in lieu of the Midsummer Ball during her third year, and his fifth. It took some meddling on account of Persephone Vitrac, Eric's cousin, but the pair ended up going to the ball together and dating through the summer after term concluded. Things ended anticlimactically when, feeling pressure from friends that the age gap was too severe, Talula called it off upon returning to school. Now dating Antimony Crane, Eric remains a close friend and confidante.
  • Chadwick Spaulding: A brash, stereotypical Gryffindor who's a year above Talula. They started dating around the time of the Halloween Bash, much to the chagrin of Tal's social circle. The boy is known to be a bit dense and, strangely enough, hypervigilant about defending muggleborns, to the point of considering the pureblood sects of the wizarding world to be far inferior. He also has 'a chin like a shovel' according to Octavia Dechants, though the boy seemed to take that as a compliment. Little else is known about him, other than when in a relationship with Talula he clung to her like a remora fish, usually to get in the odd snog or boast about some mediocre achievement on his part. Ever since the breakup, he's retreated into the background to sulk with his fellow lion cronies as a mere NPC.
  • Cypress Chalamet: After Casey's departure from Hogwarts in the autumn of 2028, Talula turned her attentions to Cypress, and it's not too difficult to see why. If not for the whole tall, dark, and handsome schtick, Chalamet at least possessed uncanny similarities that seemed to draw her in as well, such as taking the prefect slot left open by Casey's departure and moving to starting chaser on Ravenclaw's quidditch team. Not to mention that Cypress is the same year and house as Casey, and strangely enough also has the same initials. He attended the Winter Ball and Hearty Party with Talula, though it wasn't meant to last, as she felt she had to compete for attention when it came to Cy's close circle of guy friends. After learning he'd retreated to spend the evening with them in the prefects' bathroom the night of the Hearty Party, as well as hearing nothing from him on Valentine's Day, Talula felt the burgeoning relationship had hit a dead end and couldn't continue. She will always treasure the fact that she gave Cypress his first kiss, and to this day, they maintain a good friendship: with the occasional playful bit of flirting here and there.
  • "Galen Lycanth": Rumours started around the time of Valentine's Day of Talula's fifth year, that things had come to a close with her and Cypress Chalamet, and whispers of a new boy, some Slytherin nobody could recall by the name of "Galen", seemed to be connected to the veela in the days to follow. But by the end of the month, it was determined that in a stress-induced psychosis surrounding the pressures of such a romantic holiday, without either Cypress or Casey by her side, Talula subjected herself to making out with her mirror in various hidden places around school for a duration of two weeks, believing her own image to be that of a red-headed Slytherin boy who, quite naturally, never existed. Or so she's reasoned out... was it all a hallucination? With no evidence in the way of proving "Galen" was ever a real person, this is the story Talula tells herself, though would be hard-pressed to bring it up in any discussion.

Enemies, Rivals, and Otherwise Awkward Relationships[]

Organised by current levels of significance to Talula.

  • Octavia Amelia Callyn Dechants II: In Talula's opinion, Octavia is a horrid little girl with backwards thinking about her and her friends. Purportedly the reason behind Octavia's disdain is an incident in Talula's second year when, in class, she accidentally set then first year Octavia's hair on fire, and has since refused to apologise. Talula is aware of this grudge, yet cannot bring herself to make amends, believing the tensions have to be based on more now than some honest mistake that happened years ago. Now as rival quidditch captains, the relationship between these two grows more and more contentious by the day.
  • Aleksei Ashworth: A recent arrival to Talula's blacklist, Lex Ashworth, rival captain and Gryffindor, earns his place for a variety of reasons, most to all of which aren't common knowledge. Well, other than the stinksap stuff. Everyone knows about the stinksap stuff. Talula has made it painfully clear in her fifth year that in spite of multiple attempts to bridge a friendship (and perhaps something romantic as well, see Year Four), she's no longer interested in entertaining what she deems to be wholly narcissistic pursuits on account of Lex's attitude. Even if that means tolerating and defending Alasdair Blackwood.
  • Marigold Macaron Feathersweet: Another friend on the outs. Fifth year seems to be the year for trading social circles, and after several encounters with the candy badger, Talula has grown leery of sitting through discussions on Ashworth psychology and constant exposition of Marigold's troubles, without regard or consideration for her own. Chalking it up to just differences in personality, she tends to keep interactions with her housemate to a bare minimum.
  • Alasdair Blackwood: Historically, these two have hated each other's guts for some time now, and the relations are tenuous at present. Talula tends to drift between feelings of guilt towards the lion prefect, and a strong desire to punch him in the face. It all depends on the day.
  • Rubicon Mordushku: The worst of the absolute worst. Rubicon is not someone Talula likes to get trapped alone in a conversation with. Whereas his cousin Cary wins a special place on her friendlist, this little resentful eagle prat only exists to remind her of how intense hatred can be directed at her, simply for her blood status. Although Rubicon seems to tolerate, and even admire Casey Champion, Talula really can't be arsed with him most days.
  • Anathema Alice Nitt: Called Talula fat once. Nuff said.
  • Link Delitch: The creep, the stalker, the blue eyed gawker. This former chaser for the Slytherin team started skulking around Talula shortly after Casey's departure in October. Wholly suspicious of his intentions over the weeks to follow, she eventually grew to learn of his involvement in training Caitlin Spector on the pitch, against all better judgement of course. Talula developed a secret, cautious alliance with Delitch, until his actions were discovered by Dechants and he was promptly kicked off the quidditch team. It was assumed that Link had left school after that, the reasons unknown, yet he reappeared right around the same time as Casey did, just as snide and condescending as Talula remembered him to be at the beginning of their encounters. And for that, he's kept at a distance, not to be trusted or tolerated.
  • SPECIAL NOTE ON THE MINISTRY/DMLE/Wizengamot: Earning a special place on the "enemy" list is not a person, but a government agency --two even-- winning intense amounts of disdain from the girl. On account of the dealings surrounding her grandmother's sentencing and, consequentially, wrongful incarceration, both the DMLE and the Wizengamot's rash and middling efforts continue to be a thorn in her family's side. It is common knowledge that Hestarina Shippe served a three year sentence in Azkaban; but the concerns surrounding her vehement proclamations of innocence were met with deaf ears. No correspondence was allowed in or out of the prison, and appeals were not permitted at all. Upon release, Talula's grandmother began her own personal investigation to find the culprit who had framed her, the companion left unnamed and forgotten by the Ministry. Talula herself apprehensively met with the DMLE regarding the concerns presented by her nan, but no follow up was done, and the fate of the case is unclear. What is clear is that Veritus Gandy was found and met an untimely end, and that Hestarina remains on the lam, for fear that she should suffer further legal complications as a result. All of this compounds in a building distaste for all things Ministry related, though Talula prefers to scorn the DMLE and the Wizengamot in particular. To her, the system is broken, if such grievous actions were taken to ruin her nan's life.

"A bunch of girls were seen dragging a certain Ravenclaw boy to the hair salon during the Hogsmeade weekend. Poor guy didn’t stand a chance, really."

"Word is out that the enchanting badger can’t stand to lose, especially not to the annoying badger…"

Behind the Scenes[]

Talula was created by player Talula Shippe for Second Life's Mischief Managed RP in the summer of 2015. She engaged in some scenes at the Brighton Beach sim; however, real life and other roleplays intervened and Talula wasn't available to attend during the school year.  She rerolled Talula in August of 2017 so that she could enter Hogwarts anew as a first year.

Talula has been role playing in Second Life since 2009, creating and maintaining an array of characters in mostly high fantasy and science fiction sims. Her greatest joy in role play is the development of character through research, making MMRP ideal with its abundance of source material; her second greatest joy is the opportunity to B.S. at length.

When not role playing, Talula enjoys saving her friends from shopping accidents, practicing avatography, and just being a butt in general. She can occasionally be found in MM OOC chat, though prefers direct IMs.
